Second page.

Certainly what most parents are teaching their children, that, and that nothing is their fault.

This eBay item is selling a Quest "Starter Set", and in it is a Turbo Putter. I guess it's no different from using the Big Bertha for casual golf rounds. How many golfers play in tournaments?

If anything, it's a good opportunity to demonstrate some kind of parental fallibility, and explain to the kid that "daddy didn't realize that this putter is not allowed in tournaments. Sorry about that, let's try a standard putter, it isn't that hard to use, I'm sure you'll play well with the kind of putter everyone else uses."

Daddy knew. Should have lent his son an old disc from the box that was legal. Not really the thing to be dealing with days before the event.

This can't be the first time the child has played in competition. Can it?

Is all this rhetoric for this post??

Quote:
justin, my son has a turbo putter and asked me if he can use it the tournement. i heard they were not allowed for tournaments what should i tell him

Holy mob parenting..... Seemed like a pretty simple question.

Parents that back (aka loopy) their kids big time in sports tend to know their stuff about that sport and wouldn't even ask. If it's an advantage they'd use it until you get caught. That would be the parents that I think we are trying to describe.

or somebody gets a punch in the nose. Go old school on this one.

Well its not a pdga event so I would assume it be up to the td, he's a kid I don't see why not.

That is the quote in question.

In my morning research I came across this comment too, which I enjoyed:

... So now we have courses that are 10,000' with 1,000' signature holes. Where does it end? How much public land do we really think is going to be turned into disc golf courses? ...

This line makes me laugh.
Sorry folks, the game has grown beyond margarine lids and picnic park spaces.
If you want a disc golf course, you're going to have to pay for it. It's time to stop chasing fantasies and start chasing goals.

Back to the main point though, there is a huge difference between turning a blind eye to a pint or two on the course and condoning a player using illegal equipment.

Plus, like BBP said, the parent should never have put this on the TD. What kind of lesson is he trying to teach his kid?

I believe the lesson is that if you bitch enough, the world will surely recognize what a truly golden special snowflake you really are.

How to be a toolbag. With more of this soft parenting getting worse as time goes on, if we have to fight in another world war, were screwed.

Longer boot camp hopefully would do the trick and send the parents too.
