Ottawa's Ice League continues this weekend Jan. 28th, 2012
at Alcove a private course located north of Wakefield, QC.

Alcove is an 18 hole Tonal course with rolling terrain and picturesque landscapes.

THINGS TO KNOW:

I will be taking registration at 11:30am.
We will be starting up promptly at 12 noon so please make sure you are at HQ before then.

Carpooling is highly encouraged as the parking lot can only hold so many vehicles.

Dress appropriately. It's a big course similar to playing a round at Camp Fortune with more up and downs.
With that being said, dressing to stay warm is the way to go.

DIRECTIONS TO ALCOVE:

Address for Google maps/GPS usage; 44 chemin Echo Dale, la Pêche, QC

Get on Highway 5 as if you were heading to Camp Fortune but don’t exit at Old Chelsea,
instead continue until the end of HWY 5 where there is a T intersection with a set of lights turn left on to HWY 105N.

Stay on this highway (the 105 north), until the next big intersection (they are few and far between on this road, in case you miss it, you'll see a Giant Tiger on the right).
Turn right at that intersection and go down the hill into the pretty village of Wakefield.

At the bottom of said hill, you will come to another T-intersction, go left. Stay on this road,
it will take you through the village. On the far side of the village there is another intersection, go straight, heading north, still following the Maniwaki signs. (The course is about a 6 minute drive from this intersection).

You're back on the 105 heading north and the highway eventually splits into a four-lane and up ahead, looming on the left, you will see a massive sandpit. Turn left onto the dirt road (Chemin Echo Dale) when you get to the pit. Stacie's driveway is the first driveway on the right, which is half a click from the highway.

It is a long driveway, and you can't see the house until the end of the driveway
(if you have 4 wheel drive you might like to use it now). Park when you get to the house.

Hope to see you all out there on Saturday!

I was up in Wakefield yesterday skiing and there is a lot of snow up there. Even the warm weather of the next couple of days won't help much

This may be the first one i actually snow shoe.

Bring a tobaggon and bungee your bag to it

snow shoes make tobagganing tough

This weekend i removed 16" of snow off my boat up in wakefield with ground cover of around 2 feet. When we got all that freezing rain they got snow and so not much of a ice crust if any. it was good snowmobile.

I'm here now,
It rained today. Both dad and I parked at the bottom of the hill tonight. Depending on whether or not we get sanded before Saturday, those without snow tires ought to choose to park at the bootom for IL. (both cars have all-wheel drive and winter tires but we're not risking it- trust us we've been here for 27 years)

I think I may just park at the bottom and hitch-hike up the driveway.

I can't wuite figure out what to pack for gear. Its not going to be cold which kind of blows. Cold would have firmed everything right up.

I think I will bring my grippers and snow shoes

Everybody be careful on #2 green. About 3 weeks ago I fell into a hole (one leg up to the knee) just to the right of the target. There is a pile of logs there that gets all covered up by snow. Not fun. I should post a picture of my leg... 3 weeks of really interesting colours...

I forgot about that spill, that was a scary.

I'll make sure to give everyone a heads up before we head out.

Is there anyone willing to give me a ride?

I'll pay for your entry fee, and sing your praises all day long.
