Ottawa's Ice League continues this weekend Sat. Dec. 10th, 2011
at Alcove a private course located north of Wakefield, QC.

Alcove is an 18 hole Tonal course with rolling terrain and picturesque landscapes.

THINGS TO KNOW:

I will be taking registration at 10:30am.
We will be starting up promptly at 11:00am so please make sure you are at HQ before then.

Dress appropriately. It's a big course similar to playing a round at Camp Fortune with more up and downs.
With that being said, dressing to stay warm is the way to go.

DIRECTIONS TO ALCOVE:

Address for Google maps/GPS usage; 44 chemin Echo Dale, la Pêche, QC

Get on Highway 5 as if you were heading to Camp Fortune but don’t exit at Old Chelsea,
instead continue until the end of HWY 5 where there is a T intersection with a set of lights turn left on to HWY 105N.

Stay on this highway (the 105 north), until the next big intersection (they are few and far between on this road, in case you miss it, you'll see a Giant Tiger on the right).
Turn right at that intersection and go down the hill into the pretty village of Wakefield.

At the bottom of said hill, you will come to another T-intersction, go left. Stay on this road,
it will take you through the village. On the far side of the village there is another intersection, go straight, heading north, still following the Maniwaki signs. (The course is about a 6 minute drive from this intersection).

You're back on the 105 heading north and the highway eventually splits into a four-lane and up ahead, looming on the left, you will see a massive sandpit. Turn left onto the dirt road (Chemin Echo Dale) when you get to the pit. Stacie's driveway is the first driveway on the right, which is half a click from the highway.

It is a long driveway, and you can't see the house until the end of the driveway
(if you have 4 wheel drive you might like to use it now). Park when you get to the house.

INFORMATION: more info about Ice League can be found here;

Hope to see you all out there on Saturday!

I have the domestic green light for this one, but will require a ride to Alcove.

Please contact me to set something up if you can help.

ALSO: (am cross posting this in the Shire thread...)

Would anyone who will be at Alcove, and also at the Shire on Wednesday be able to pick me up a Star Destroyer at Twirly's ??
I'll pay back with beer interest at Ice League.
Weights in order of preference 170, 169 or 171 g.
Colour preference white or yellow, not critical I'll take whatever colours are available.

ONLY buy one of those weights. Outside that range, I don't want one.

Thanks a lot,

Ken

Stay on this highway (the 105 north) until the end upon which will be a T intersection where you will turn right on Chemin Maclaren and at the next light turn left to get back on the 105 North.

You're back on the 105 heading north and the highway eventually splits into a four-lane and up ahead, looming on the left, you will see a massive sandpit. I included the detour around Wakefield in the preceding directions because I recall
it saving some time instead of going through Wakefield. (new directions in bold)

Darco, where do you live? I'll be headed to Alcove from around the Canadian Tire on Carling Saturday morning, if that helps and the ride from Andros doesn't work out...

the directions for alcove are good- The Highway 5 has been extended but that won't make a difference- either way at the end of the highway you keep going north.

note the construction (esp. by the bungee jump place) the speed reduces to a 70KM/hr. also note for aesthetics (or lack thereof) that they've blown up Browns Mountain (its now bare and has dump trucks over where it was once a lush forest).

At the Giant Tiger you can either go straight- a follow the directions north back onto the 105. (Don't go over the bridge to 366)

Or you can turn right at the G.T. drive down through the village and go straight at the lights.

Echo Dale is on the left of the highway just in front of the massive sandpit past Alcove village (Petro Can) you can't miss the pit.

First drive on the right

*******

AT THE TOP OF THE HILL- THERE IS A 180 DEGREE TURN- DO NOT SLOW DOWN UNTIL YOU HAVE COMPLETED THIS TURN- OTHERWISE THERE IS A MAJOR CHANCE THAT YOU WILL LOSE SPEED AND HAVE TO BACK DOWN WHICH IS SCARY EVEN FROM THE BEST OF DRIVERS!!!! If you don't believe me, ask Don Lane big grin

So it isn't a shotgun start then? Shotgun means cards start on different holes

My bad lissy confused me with his initial question.

What I meant to say is rolling start.

I think Andros is actually talking about his plans to hunt for turkeys or grouse etc. before the round begins. That kind of shotgun start.
