2 cents:

The ice league being linked with the ice bowl/auction is essential in my opinion. It's all about the big build up.

If the total standings for ice league were linked to the President's Cup I would say that's an error. However the only thing that counts to the big time individual award is your performance at the IB.

Ottawa has a really great thing going with this winter league. I'm grateful to have got to be a part of it this year. Hopefully I land some kind of job here when I graduate and can participate even more next year.

Thanks. I was trying to convince myself that I COULD use "mute", as no one would say anything about the matter, but I couldn't put my heart behind it. You put the period and the opportunity was there.

Moot. :shakehead: I tried to pull up a definition of "moot" from google, but it got blocked. WTH are people saying about "moot"?

Ok, so should the reward for IB be more than just double participation points? You go out for IB, play singles and you get the same reward as a group of doubles the first day it snows. The bonus points over the X-Mas break were extremely influential as well.

J.A.B. must be chuckling to himself behind the scenes.

His original line of "Andros makes one more putt, and this conversation is mute.", was in fact impeccable in every regard. It was a pun of the highest order and lowest degree, as my mom sometimes says, and conveys the same sense as "moot", while also exploiting the double-entendre value from "mute", as in: everybody shut up already!

Like some of his long drives, that one went sailing way over people's heads, exposing all manner of confused reaction in its wake.

The arrogance of the second-guessers!

Why should it be more?

There's nothing wrong with the system. Leave it alone. Not everything needs to be "fixed". The parameters for the league were set up months ago.

Andros COULD have made another putt if Andros had time to practice his putting.

But I guess that's moot too.

Why should it be more?

There's nothing wrong with the system. ...

There seems to be some confusion regarding interpretations of LEAGUE. A league is a series of events; one event can't possibly be so important to marginalize all of those contributions that make the league something to look forward to on a regular basis.
Leagues are about participation. Winning a league is about participation and excellence. That excellence has to come more than just once. The final in this case is the great league tie breaker, but not the league king maker. There is balance in the way it is.

I really thought that the Ice League points you get from the Ice Bowl were based on how you finished overall not how you finished in your division. I won AM last year but placed 6th overall and I understood that I got a 6th place allocation, but because I had won so many Ice League events that I was the overall winner. Is this not how it was?

Nope they are based on how you finished in your division at the Ice Bowl.

Rolly asked a similar question a little while back;
