^^^^^

I see what you did there

I am not advocating any change...just throwing out ideas for discussion

You should set a goal for what your HC improvement will be this coming year

If you claim this the "year of the roller" I think you're setting the bar too high. big grin

lmao...problem is we have no good roller courses....maybe the year of the travelling roller?

Also want to do some video analysis and get my drives longer and more accurate

and become a putting superstar

If I could throw further, straighter, with more spin, and putt better i would win for sure

Now I've got Al Stewart's "Year of the Cat" in my head.

Rollers not so hot at CF.

Or Ettyville, or alcove, or any other courses we play

#5 at the Shire and maybe Kanata #2

Kanata #5 (old #4), the gap hole. You hit that with a roller and you're king. Maybe even literally...

The handicap is only used for seeding purposes in assigning cards and for determining adjusted score winners. It's also a tie breaker for ODGC Performance Rankings (see those in the Club House).
But that's not the only way that I've been using it. I used my handicap all season to track whether I was improving or not, or how much of an improvement I was making week to week.

You can't use a handicap to determine if you're improving from week to week. They don't work that way because they're a weighted average.

Paul, if I'm correct, capping the HC at any number won't mean any less work for you, as all players' HCs must be calculated after each round anyways, in order to determine whether or not they've fallen under the threshold.
It won't make any more work either. One line of code needs to be changed. The computer does all the lifting for me.

lissyssil wrote:
Capping the HC at 20 would probably still give a 21 or 22 handicapper a win over Penton at Kanata, and it's just going to destroy a 26 or 27 handicapper at Ettyville.
Kanata: Likely. But it'll give an 8 or 9 HCer that just played a personal best the win.
Ettyville: anyone with a hc more than 20 is always going to be destroyed at Ettyville. Giving bonus strokes to 20+ hc'ers wouldn't even help here.

Anyways, a better way of putting all of this would be to ask,

How high is the handicap of a disc golfer that has loads of room to improve in all aspects of their game?

I know of a 17.6 who has a ton of room to improve too. I would suggest, without checking the handicaps in the TOSS HC thread, that once you hit ten to twelve, you're probably not lacking a need for improvement in all aspects of your game.

My guess would be that around 15+ is where a player probably needs loads of improvement in all aspects of their game.

(edit)
Having looked at the HC thread, I would say that a sub-12 player is playing well, and may need to minor tweaks to improve. 12-15 players may have an aspect or two of the game that need significant improvement (or minor improvement in all of drive, putt and approach), and 15+ just needs a lot of all around improvement.(/edit)

Seeing as we used mulligans during play I'm gonna go out on a limb and say no.

(oh and it's "affect" btw, you had it right)
