10 players makes two pools. Pool A becomes... the top 5 in handicaps.

Pool B therefore becomes:
{The Rest}

Two even numbered pools. Now I think the confusion happened because Old Man played with Twirly, Rox and me. This happened because Old Man was tied with Rox in overall score, and could make a charge. Shane was relegated to the overflow group of Bourgie and These-are-the-Daves-I-Know-I-Know. Shane was still in pool A, just not playing on the top card.

This move made groups of 4 and 3 instead of two groups of 5.

This is exactly the how and why. Your handicap places you in a pool. Your score places you on the card and in the standings. There's no time for cards larger than 4, so the bottoms were grouped together out of convenience.

How is your handicap calculated? Is it based on your last best 10 rounds?

No magic formula. It's the average of the 10 best differentials from your 20 most recent rounds.

See the scratch and slope thread for the equation used to calculate your differential.

A quick note prior to posting the official results:

Serge and Pierre: A two stroke penalty each for submitting the wrong score.

You guys both shot 57 and get a 59 after penalty. Serge, you reported a 59. Pierre, you reported a 60.

Lots of crazy low scores last night. Some great shooting out there.

Although you were the one who calculated his score, Serge alone is responsible for double checking it and making sure it's correct.
(I think that's how it goes, not 100% sure)
Thus you might be ashamed but you're penalty free.

That is why I always say post round after adding up scores:"Check the math. If it is wrong it is your fault not mine."

PDGA Rule Dude wrote:
804.03 Scoring

E. At the end of the round, each player shall sign his or her scorecard indicating that he or she attests to the accuracy of the score on each hole and the total score. If all the players of the group agree that a hole score was recorded in error, the score may be changed prior to the scorecard being turned in. Players whose scorecards are turned in unsigned accept responsibility for the scores reported.

F. All players are responsible for returning their scorecards within 25 minutes after the completion of a round. Failure to do so shall result in the assessment of two penalty throws, without a warning, to each player listed on the late scorecard.

G. After the scorecard is turned in, the total score as recorded shall stand with no appeal, except for the following circumstances:
(1) Penalty throws may be assessed at whatever time the infraction is discovered until the director declares the tournament officially over or all awards have been distributed.
(2) If it is determined that the total score was incorrectly recorded, either by an error on a hole score or by an error in totaling the hole scores, including omission of the total score, the director shall add two penalty throws to the correct total score. These penalty throws are not added when the TD (or an official designated by the TD, such as a course director) corrects a player's score for other infractions determined after this player had turned in an otherwise correct scorecard.
(3) Late Scorecard. See 804.03 F.
