I think this rule should be copied to the player's meeting thread:

COURSE MAINTENANCE

One hour before the start of the event, the Owner of the course will run through the course from hole 1 to 18 (in order) to ensure no fallen trees have obstructed the teepads or damaged the tonals. He will carry a chainsaw, 2 posts and 2 tonals with him to remedy any problems (carrying a 10 gallon gas can is optional).

Since everyone else is playing match we should play the first round together for a quarter a hole. That way we will be ready to face our first apponent. I will be there for 9:30 regardless.

Sure sounds good to me. smile

From Flat Moutain, there was an old man,
Thought build a disc golf course, win I can.
Oonie two, round 1, his shots weren't worth a dam,
Oonie two, round 2, saved a dollar for his retirement plan.

King of the Oonie was awesome.
Good times, good golf, good people, good day.

And what a meat feast at lunch time.

Another gorgeous day of golf at Flat Mountain, the Home of the Oonie!

A huge "Thank You" to the 12 men who came out the 2009 King of the Oonie. Thanks for reading the Players Meeting thread prior to arriving. Thank you for dropping your Twoonies and Loonies in the jars prior to your rounds. Thank you for making the second year of the Oonie even bigger than the last. I hope you had fun.

A big thank you to Paulie, who helped write all the rules for this tournie, allowed me to bounce ideas off him, designed, organized, and ran the Loonie rounds again. You're going to need more ribs next year Bourgie.

Thanks to Ben, whose job is to fill in at the last moment to make the numbers even, as well as getting up at ungodly hours of the morning to pick up trophies, mark the course, and do all the small things I forget to do.

Thanks to my dad, who turned an unwanted wedding present into the King of the Oonie trophy. Thanks Frank.

Thanks again to Old Man and Christine for hosting us in your backyard, gazebo, garage and disc golf course. Big thanks for the BBQ usage. It makes the day being able to grill something up between rounds.

This tournament raised $70 (and counting) for Flat Mountain, and $50 (and still counting) for the ODGC. The winner took home ~$40 in Twoonies, and I have no idea how much the Loonie Skins competitors took home with all the side bets. The trophy will stay at Flat Mountain, the Home of the Oonie. Feel free to touch the Oonie wink big grin

And it still holds true to what I said last year:

"A tournament that supports the community and course, and rewards the winners appropriately; for throwing plastic, not performing brain surgery. Not bad for 12 players.

The success of this tournament has made it even more evident to me that tournaments that offer intrinsic rewards over extrinsic rewards for the winners, while helping courses and clubs grow, is the way our sport is going to grow. Great players don't need plastic; they need recognition and a high class arena to display their talents. This will only happen if support is given at the foundation of the game; the clubs and courses."

Shouldn't Shane have more than the other 3 of us who lost in that round immediately before the Loonie Skin rounds? I think he should have 100 pts more.

This was posted in another thread and I will answer it here.

The King of the Oonie is all about the Twoonie round. The Loonie round is not mentioned in the description of the tournament:

Quote:

The King of the Oonie
Match Play Elimination Tournament

Date: Saturday May 2, 2008

Course: Flat Mountain Disc Golf Course, Mountain, ON

Costs: $10 Registration Fee (includes Green Fees)
+$5 Non-ODGC Members
$2 per round played

Format: Match Play Elimination Tournament

Information:

* Players pay a Twoonie for every 9 hole round they play. The more you win, the more you PlAY.
* First round matches will be randomly drawn 3 days before the tournament.
* First round start times will be posted 2 days before the tournament.
* You must win the match outright to continue in the tournament.
* There are no ties. Tie-breaker holes are played until a hole is won.
* The Final Round will be 18 holes; the finalists pay two Twoonies each.
* The winner takes all the Twoonies.
* Players eliminated in the first or second round can participate in a Loonie-per-round sub-tournament.
* You Must Pre-Register. Walk-ons will not be allowed to participate.
* All player information will be posted on the ODGC Forum: Tournament thread.

Details:
* All rounds are 9 holes, except the final round.
* Participants only pay Twoonies until they’re eliminated.
* Earliest start time is 9:00am.
* Starting holes are 1, 4, and 9. You will be assigned a starting hole.
* A match is over when one player leads by a number of holes greater than the number remaining to be played.
* Tie breakers are “sudden death” and played in sequence (if you finish on 9, you continue on 10, then 11 if necessary).

The standings for the Presidents Cup Race is based on your performance in the King of the Oonie. Not the Loonie round. The Points are based on your finish in the King of the Oonie rounds (Twoonie rounds). I apologize if that doesn't seem clear to some, but I'm not about to get into the complications involved in finding out who deserves how many points.

Take the instance of Carl and Shane; Carl made it to the Semi-Finals, and Shane got bumped in the Quarters. Shane beat Carl in the Loonie rounds SKINS. Who gets more points? What should the difference be?

Not to take anything from Shane and his performance in the Loonie rounds, but that's not the main competition. Carl made it further and deserves to be recognized for his success in the main part of the tournament.
