The Tuesday night league continues on July 3 at Camp Fortune. Action will be from the short tee pads.

All disc golfers are welcome regardless of ability. Even if you've never played in an ODGC event or tournament, we would like to have you join us for League Nights.

Remember that good footwear is a must at Camp Fortune. We'll gather on the deck of the main chalet. Tee-off for all Camp Fortune events on Tuesdays are at 6:30pm, so:
Be at the hill by 6:15 to register.

Do your best to bring exact change. Fees are $5 for current members with ODGC disc golf handicaps, and $3 for all new players. ODGC memberships will be available as well.

This is the final week of the 3rd quarterback challenge of the season, and there are currently enough players for two pools. Stay in the race by being at the hill. See you on Tuesday!

Golf is a strange game. The thing about it that I find most remarkable is the side of the game responsible for a player's perspective on the quality of round. This is a facet of an overall mental aspect of the game, and I thought the following was worth sharing.

If you had asked me how I felt about my round, I would have said that it was nothing special. When the numbers came in for the adjusted scores this evening, I didn't believe them, so I went back through the records to try and rationalize what happened.

Turns out, I shot my best recorded round at Fortune shorts and beat my previous best by 7 strokes. Cough. Seven strokes? WTF? Another look, and the result was 10 strokes better than our last CFDG Shorts event. If you crunch the numbers, the course played about 4.7 strokes easier on average tonight than the last time we were there (note the cold temperatures, wet weather, and extreme winds the last time). The ten strokes I shaved off of that round was a big change.

Okay, so another look, and it turns out that I recorded my lowest differential since June of last year; a 12.5.

What does all of this translate into?
I can't be sure, but perhaps it's the beginning of the end of a year long slump. Looking back at the round, there were some mistakes (like a lost disc on #5, and a self-inflicted extended stay in the woods coupled with an unfortunate 3-putt on #6), but there was plenty to be happy about, and reflecting on the round, I now feel happy about it. How could you be disappointed with your best round in over 12 months?

Thanks for the round, Claus, Mike, and Ben!
