the return of Über-Works:

Players will be grouped according to ability in cards of 4 or 5.

As long as we have a minimum of 12 players, it will be possible to have all groups with either 4 or 5 players.

sign-in 6:15 pm, tee-off 6:30 pm.

here's a breakdown of what we'll do. We'll use monopoly, or Work$ and then scale afterwards:

CTPs - $1 collected from each opponent for each CTP

FIBs - $1 collected from each opponent for each FIB

Birdies - $1 collected from each opponent for each birdie

Deuce Metal - (missed putt) 50c collected from each opponent for each occurance

Metal-on-Drive - $2 collected from each opponent per occurance

Skins - 50c collected from each opponent for each skin

Full membership - (bogey free round) $2 collected from each opponent (shared if multiple full members)

Last to lose membership - (last player to bogey) $1 collected from each opponent (shared if happens at same hole)

Ace - $5 collected from each opponent

Low Net score - $2 collected from each opponent, except 2nd place finisher

Payout is calculated based on proportion of Works money won, excluding anyone's total that is negative.

LN points will be 10 for most Works money, decrement of 2 per ranks below this.

A rehash of last year's über-works can be seen here:
http://www.odgc.ca/forums/viewtopic.php?t=4886
it gives some flavour on how the format runs.

To help finance Stefan's hectic 2007, let's say that metal on drive earns $2 from each opponent.

WOW! Confusing for sure, however, i was wondering how it would work with myself and Levis, this would be our first time, so a quick and brief rule run down would be appreciated.

Dear Juniors,

If you took the time to read the first post in the thread, you'd see the rules. It is confusing but it looks to be very fun. Enjoy yourselves!

If you play really well you might be able to take an extra 5 minutes at work tomorrow.

(sorry to those who don't watch the office and wonder what the hell I'm talking about)

The Works, in its many versions, is well described in an article of Disc Golf World, which is available for members from the ODGC Library.

Join the ODGC, and you get access to the Club Library, where you can learn more about this game, and other disc golf topics.

I'm on Riverdale, near where Main St crosses the Rideau River.

Close enough to U. of Ottawa. Will be there 5:55+-5 min, if you give me more precise address.

I agree and i have another poem

A yeti who came from Basmati,
Woke up one day feeling quite hearty,
It's those climbers I ate,
He said as he licked the plate,
I can't wait for the rescue party!

OR one that I made up!

There once was a man named Bob,
Everyone thought he was a snob<
He had a mid wife,
That pulled out a knife,
And that was the end of Bob

OR

Marry had a little lamb,
And a pony too,
She put the pony in a field,
And put the lamb in a stew!

Ok, moving on from poetry to last night's results...

We had another excellent turnout of 15 players, which made for 3 perfect groups of 5 for Über-works. Sorry, for the purpose of expediency, I won't try to format beautiful tables, all the info is there, it just isn't simple to read. The first part of the table shows raw results, the second part shows the net über-$ value determined through the group give and take for each category. Only players with positive über-$$ got payout, determined proportionally from a potential pot of $12 actual Canadian cash. This will be credited (or paid) to people at future LNs.

For a turnout of 15 players, 7.5 LN points was the logical total for winning a card, with a 1.5 point difference between ranks.

The über-works spreadsheet is available on the website, in case any of you are either curious about how the totals were arrived at, or think there might be errors and would like to try some debugging...

Congratulations to Lee, Dan and Stefan for winning their cards.

Those of you who have read all of this carefully will have noticed that we had an ACE last night !! Congratulations to Dan Doucette for his Ace, worth a total of $206!! For the record, the Ace was from the Blue tee on Hole 12, a flick that hit pure chains with a 170 g Discraft "D" plastic XTRA.
