That's not even a sentence?!? Are you asking if GoogleMaps is high resolution, or are you telling us that it's not? Which by the way, it's not. Echo Dale is just off the satellite imaging, but of course you can see it on the regular map.

Hi, so I hope everyone's coming out tomorrow. I went out today to make sure that the course was "'up to par". A few had fallen over, I found all but one buried in the snow. So 3 baskets would definately be great. what time is everyone planning on arriving at, I assume around 11:30am?

*** BTW- you'd better use 4X4 drive if you can. i slipped at the top of the hill in my dad's Xtera today... Oh, and for those who don't know and just a reminder for those who do, my driveway is a steep hill, at the top is a 180 degree turn, don't slow down, if you do, your chances of not making it to the top drastically increases. And if you don't make it, you have to back back down and try again, and when most people back down they end up in the snowbank. That said if you don't think your car can make it, park at teh bottom of the hill and either walk or if you have a cell phone, call and someone will come down and get you...

Hmmm. We're taking Ben's Prelude tomorrow. This should be interesting. We're picking up Darco and Gobbles. We'll get them to push.

Oh, we'll probably be there for quite a bit, so I doubt you'll miss us. If we get there early enough you'll have to help if you want your car up there.

Paul-B can't make it today, but his basket will be there. Thanks Paul!

We're still looking for another two baskets. If not, we'll improvise.

Euro - keep your camera at home. Mojo has to make it up that hill too!

Next Saturday, December 16th, we'll be making the pilgrammage to the slopes of Orleans, which rarely sees any activity in any of our leagues.

The course was installed by the city and the local school some 3 years ago, and as yet, does not have any tee-pads, as the city doesn't want any. The nine baskets mostly wrap around a meteor-like crater, with many of the baskets on the slopes of the crater, which makes for challenging putts, and heartwrenching rollaways.

We'll be playing a Rolly-layout at the course, likely 27 holes, although I await the news from Oleans Rolly.

Course Location:

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=575+Arc-En-Ciel+St,+Orl%C3%A9ans,+ON,+Canada&ie=UTF8&z=15&ll=45.467053,-75.484571&spn=0.020406,0.053344&t=h&om=1

Only your top-6 + bonus rounds count for the final ranking, so even if you haven't yet been to an Ice League event, there's plenty of time to climb the ranks. The top-6 in both the Ice League and the Ice Putt events will earn Ice Bucks, which they can use in our auction, which will take place at the Honest Lawyer after the Ice Bowl in February.

Questions? Shoot them this way.

Well, now that most of the baskets at the Orleans course are all bundled up for the winter months, we relocated this Ice League event to the familiar baskets at JCP.

A new layout was decided by the players in attendance, and we played it for the first time ever, for a total of 18 holes. Our design had us play the course backwards on the even holes, ie. from basket #6 to basket #4, then from #4 to #2, etc... At the end of 9 holes, we played it in the other direction to the same baskets.

This created some natural par-4s, and a couple of holes where you had to get a birdie to stay competitive. All pavement & concrete was considered to be water, and the weather was quite cooperative at 3 - 4ºC with 15-20kph winds.

We ended up with a 3-way tie for 1st place, with another team only 1-stroke off the pace.

Ice League Results:

# JCB B2B Reverse Evens x2 Score Points Partic. Ttl. Pts Payout
1= Claus R. & Rod Nicholls +8 100 6 106 $6.00 ea
1= A. Pengelly & Ben Svetkoff +8 100 6 106 $6.00 ea
1= G. Penton & Don Lane +8 100 6 106 $6.00 ea
4 G. Rowland & M. Rancourt +9 86 3 89
5= R. Wormald & A. Vallée +11 82 2 84
5= K. Darcovich & Marc Fortin +11 82 2 84

Kiwi was hot on the Ice Putt course, almost eclipsing the best score of the season, which was earned by our absentee Euro, who took off back home for the holidays this morning.

We also saw a nice season début by Ken Darcovich on the Ice Putt course, which he can quickly climb with a series of solid rounds.

Just like the Ice League ranking, the Ice Putt ranking will only count any player's top-6 scores, so there is lots of time to climb to the top in both rankings. The top-6 players (highlighted in yellow) at the end of the season earn bonus Ice Bucks with which they can use to bid on items in our Ice Auction.

Ice Putt results:

1 - 27 pts - Arthur Pengelly, $15.00, 10 Ice Bucks, 8 Ice Putt pts
2 - 17 pts - Ken Darcovich, 7 Ice Putt pts
3 - 16 pts - Geoff Rowland, 6 Ice Putt pts
4 - 14 pts - Marc Fortin, 5 Ice Putt pts
5 - 13 pts - Don Lane, 4 Ice Putt pts
6 - 11 pts - Claus Reitlingshoefer, 3 Ice Putt pts
7 - 6 pts - Marc Rancourt, 2 Ice Putt pts
7 - 6 pts - Rob Wormald, 2 Ice Putt pts

CTP Winner - Marc Rancourt, 20 Ice Bucks & a Godfather Card

The Ice League & Ice Putt Ranking is now posted.

Next week during the holiday season is for Bonus Points only, given that many people will be away and unable to attend. They get added on top of your Top-6 Ice League results.

Details on that event are to follow.

The Saturdays of December 23rd and the 30th will see us play JCP Basket[to-Basket. On the 23rd we'll play it in the regular direction (1,2,3...) then on the 30th we'll play it the other direction (18, 17, 16...).

Showing up will get you at least +10 points added to your overall total. For every team you tie or beat you'll get +1 point added on. So if you show up and come dead last, you'll still get +10 points. If you win and you beat 2 teams, you'll get +12 points. So not a lot of pressure, but a lot of fun.

Best disc doubles - Basket to basket - all pavement is OB. Over is not. Out of the park is OB.

Meet at hole #5 for a noon start. Ice Putt at 11:30.

The weather has been so nice this past few weeks, we might even get to see some of the fair-weather crowd that usually hangs up their discs in the fall.

Hoping to see some rare but familiar faces this Saturday at our bonus Ice League event at JCP.

Some short holes were calling out "Ace Me" today, as we played the forwards version of the basket-to-basket layout at JCP today, with the only precipitation coming from the melting ice layer on the trees.

No aces were hit today, and the Ice Pot starts out next week at $82, so it's starting to get juicy. Next week, with a backwards basket-to-basket layout, there will be with more short holes awaiting the players who come out for next week's Bonus Saturday event on Dec. 30th.

The fog was thick on the Ottawa River, and the early holes were rather picturesque with the shiny frost layer on the ground covered by wispy layers of fog. If you weren't there, you missed another sweet day of golf.

Ten players tore themselves away from last minute Christmas shopping long enough to play 18 holes basket-to-basket in regular order. Here is how the teams fared:

Ice League Results:

# JCB B2B Forward - Bonus Score Points Partic. Ttl. Pts Payout
1 Geoff Penton & Ryan Penton -6 10 4 14 $15.00 ea
2 J. Meldrum & Craig Pinches -4 10 3 13
3 Claus R. & Ben Svetkoff -1 10 2 12
4= Don Lane & Stéphane Myre 0 10 1 11
4= G. Rowland & Gavin Schnobb 0 10 1 11

5 players took a shot at the Ice Putt layout, with Peaches coming out on top. A bounty of a jug of nuts and bolts for sinking a putt from the #9 station went unearned, although the #8 station was hit by both Claus and Splash.

Ice Putt Results:

1 - 22 pts - Craig Pinches - 5 pts, $9.50, 10 Ice Bucks
2 - 18 pts - Geoff Rowland - 4 pts
2 - 18 pts - Claus Reitlingshoefer - 4 pts
4 - 14 pts - Don Lane - 2 pts
5 - 7 pts - Stéphane Myre - 1 pt

Arthur came too late to play, but was able to introduce us to his parents, and his parents the course. After a few stories and a tour of JCP, they were off to pick up Dawn at the airport, who is back from Kalamazoo for a Christmas visit with the family. Sorry I missed you Dawn, but I gave your Kiwi a prezzie for 'ya.

Ice League out at The Shire yesterday saw 17 competitors and a huge gathering of disc golf and ultimate players past and present come out to play at Twirly's course in Carp.

Ice League debuts were made by Mr. B and Langsie, along with Langsie's girlfriend Natalie, all of whom we were glad to see.

Result The Shire 18 on Twirly's B-Day Score Points Partic. Ttl. Pts Payout
1 Rob Wormald & Don Lane 47 100 9 109 $25.50 ea
2= Carl Visser & Geoff Rowland 52 95 8 103
2= Ken Darcovich & Jeff Larivière 52 95 8 103
2= Claus Reitlingshoefer (solo) 52 95 8 103
5 Paul Belyea & Rod Nicholls 53 82 5 87
6= Jeff Langs & Natalie 54 78 4 82
6= Geoff Penton & Stacie Sivyer 54 78 4 82
8= Jeff Meldrum & Ben Svetkoff 55 70 2 72
8= Stefan Dobrev & Andrew Vallée 55 70 2 72

We had six players in the Ice Putt, although I was waiting a while today to see if Roxie had made any late-night IP rounds... guess not.

Euro squeaked out another narrow victory, eeking out both Twirly and myself by a single point.

1 - 24 pts - Euro - 6 pts, $10 Ice Bucks, $11.50
2 - 23 pts - Twirly - 5 pts
2 - 23 pts - Splash - 5 pts
4 - 21 pts - Rolly - 3 pts
5 - 16 pts - Close - 2 pts
6 - 4 pts - Zonker - 1 pt

Euro left before the last round was over so I owe him $11.50 (and still owe the Kiwi $15).

It was fun playing with Twirly, who was only slightly annoyed that he couldn't drop the SYN card bomb on me. Maybe next week, bud!

OMR kicked our asses in crockinole though. Watch out for that one!
