11:30 is when the Ice Putt stations will be setup, at which you can win some money and Ice Bucks, which can be used at the "Ice Auction" we have at the Ice Bowl. Ice League itself starts at 12:00 noon.

Weekly fee for the Ice League is $8 if you haven't registered & paid for the Ice Bowl, or $6 if you have.

The Ice Bowl will be held on Saturday, Feb. 10th, and is $30 for ODGC members, and $35 for non-members.

Rounds at the Ice Putt station can be done either before or after Ice League. At this side-event, there are nine different putting locations, each one harder than the previous, labelled #1 through #9. Successful putts at each station earn a player that many points per station. Rounds cost $2/each or 3/$5 (max. of 3 rounds per day per person).

Season rankings are maintained for both the Ice League and the Ice Putt, where your top-6 results go toward your ranking + bonus pts which are available over the holidays.

Special cards are also available for Ice League events, with the proceeds donated to our charity, The Ottawa Food Bank, so bring some extra coin for those. We sell Mulligans and SYN Cards, and you can win (through weekly CTPs) "Godfather Cards", which trump Mulligans and SYN cards.

See you at Flat Mountain!

I saw my name on the thread and thought I should mention that if anyone is looking to car pool with me, you'd better let me know soon. I will be leaving my humble castle at roughly 11 am. If I don't know where to pick up anyone, I am going solo.

With this in mind, I must also say that I am not sure where I'm going but I will have a printout of the directions. Besides, being a guy...I don't get lost, right?

Schobbles... are you going with Stef?

My ride leaves a little earlier... contact one of us. My cell is 613.286.5233. We can talk about that lame trade offer you made me... backup for a starter..... gheeeesshhh!

However, I now have a good backup, from defensive-minded Minnesota, who plays solid minutes, and who got a shutout for me last night. He's available for the right player.

What a beautiful day for Ice League, which at this time of the year has been known to be called "Nice League." Sweet playing conditions!

We had a perfect-for-golf troop of 16 players which set off on the fair course at Flat Mountain for an afternoon of golf under the sunny skies.

We also had the largest Ice League round of the season, and I believe, the best score ever in the history of Ice League, with Stefan "Euro" Dobrev raking in 31 points in the contest, and two other players, Marc Fortin and host Jeff Larivière earning 27 pts apiece, which tied the previous record as set by Roxie Visser.

Teams were randomly paired in to 8 teams from two groups of players, advanced and intermediates, and ended up in a 3-way tie for first place, with ties for 4th and 6th place as well.

Result Team - Flat Mountain 19 Score Points Partic. Bonus Ttl. Pts
1= Arthur Pengelly & Stéphane Myre 53 100 8 0 108
1= Geoff Penton & Paul Bourgeois 53 100 8 0 108
1= Jeff Meldrum & Gavin Schnobb 53 100 8 0 108
4= Stefan Dobrev & Marc Fortin 55 86 5 0 91
4= Don Lane & Dawn Pengelly 55 86 5 0 91
6= Geoff Rowland & Marc-André Breau 57 78 3 0 81
6= Jeff Larivière & Andrew Vallée 57 78 3 0 81
8 Claus Reitlingshoefer & Ben Svetkoff 61 70 1 0 71

The Ice Putt had 11 different players in the competition, which was run both before and after the League event.

1. 31 - Stefan Dobrev (11 pts, $20 + 10 Ice Bucks) *
2. 27 - Marc Fortin (10 pts) *
2. 27 - Jeff Larivière (10 pts) *
4. 25 - Don Lane (8 pts) *
5. 24 - Claus Reitlingshoefer (7 pts) *
6. 21 - Geoff Rowland (6 pts) *
7. 17 - Marc-André Breau (5 pts)
8. 10 - Arthur Pengelly (4 pts)
9. 13 - Andrew Vallée (3 pts)
10. 9 - Stéphane Myre (2 pts)
11. 8 - Paul Bourgeois (1 pt)

* player played three rounds with only their best round recorded

Next week we'll be playing out in Carp at "The Shire". Twirly can tell us more about what the course will look like.

The Bonus Point rounds are held over the holidays when many people will be out of town. They will be included in your total score above and beyond your top-6 results. Teams at those events earn 10 pts + some participation pts.

Bonus points are also available at the first true "Snow Day" for Ice League (double participation points) and at the Ice Bowl, which also gives double participation points.

We use the "Can-Am" system for points, which many of Ottawa's travelling players are familiar with.

1st place gets 100 pts + 1 pt per team at the event, hence the three tied first place teams this week earned 100 + 8 pts each = 108.

Here is the basic points and how they descend by position:

TEAM # BASIC POINTS
1 100
2 95
3 90
4 86
5 82
6 78
7 74
8 70
9 67
10 64
11 61
12 58
13 55
14 52
15 50
16 48
17 46
18 44

The ranking will be updated today before noon. Thanks for the questions!

I always thought that you just made up the numbers. It is all beginning to make sense now.

Good times on the Flat Mountain.

The ranking has been updated and can be found, as always, at this location:

BBP - Can you please run next week's Ice League, as I am working next weekend. I can drop off all the materials you need some time later this week.

I can drop off the Ice Putt material with Twirly at the store so that he has it set up and ready to go bright and early next Saturday.

Twirly will have the Ice Putt set up that morning.

The following players have pre-paid Ice Putt rounds rolled over:

Twirly-3 ( Nov-4 )
John-P ( Nov-4 )
Kiwi-3 ( Nov-18 )
Craig-2 ( Nov-18 )
Craig-3 ( Nov-18 )
Claus (from Rolly)
Claus (from Don)
Rolly-3 (Nov-25)

The Shire course will look a bit different for those of you who have been there before, and you'll be playing two different layouts.

More info to follow from Twirly and BBP.

I'm not sure who moderates the kdgc but
is there a way to change classes in for the Ice Bowl?
I'm not sure if I shoot under a +6 from the blues at JCP but
i haven't been there in a bit.

I am currently alone in the recreational class and was
wondering if I could change to the intermediate class.

Is this possible?

We expect that the event will sell out, and we haven't made a big push yet, so let's wait a bit and see who else signs up before changing divisions...

Our capacity on the Pneumonia Nine round is 9 x 5 = 45 players. We had 42 last year, with over a dozen in that division, so let's wait and see.

I'll post some of the Ice Auction prizes when I get more time next week.

For those who can't find the buried directions and advisories, here's all the info that you'll need to get out to Stacies. If you need a ride, just post in here.

Schnobbler - have you found a ride yet?

Zonker - call me to confirm.

DIRECTIONS TO STACIE’S PITT:

Drive north over the Macdonald-Cartier Bridge and keep on going straight on Highway 5, which is the same highway that you go on to get to Camp Fortune. Travel all the way to the end, where there will be a stop sign.

Turn right (if you go left you'll end up on the 5 going back to Ottawa). About 200 metres up, there is a T-intersection. Turn left (i.e. north, following the Maniwaki signs).

Stay on this highway (the 105 north), until the next big intersection (they are few and far between on this road, in case you miss it, you'll see a Giant Tiger on the right).

Turn right at that intersection and go down the hill into the pretty village of Wakefield. You’ll pass the awesome water source that we used at the Capital Classic. Stop if you’re thirsty. Mmm, mmmm, mineral water!

At the bottom of said hill, you will come to another T-intersction, go left. Stay on this road, it will take you through the village. On the far side of the village there is another intersection, go straight, heading north, still following the Maniwaki signs. (FYI- I live about 6 min. drive from this intersection).

So you're on the 105 heading north, after 3-4 minutes you will pass a garage on your left, this is your half way mark. Keep going on the highway. When the highway splits into a four-lane up ahead, looming on the left, you will see a massive sandpit. Turn left onto the dirt road (Echo Dale) when you get to the pit. My driveway is the first driveway on the right, which is about 3 km from the highway.

It is a long driveway, and you can't see the house until the end of the driveway (if you have 4 wheel drive you might like to use it now). Park when you get to the house.

Note to everyone: I have tonal poles, not baskets... they're better for your aim.

Good luck see you all on the 9th... Twirly & Carl you better be at this one, no whining that you haven't played the course come the new year

Meldrum and Gavin, these are good directions eh? Razz

ADVISORIES:

Other than a few baskets, I don't think I need anything. If you own a basket, and can bring it with you, I could use up to 3 baskets for the course (please post in this thread if you can help out with this).

However a note to those who are planning on coming out this weekend:

Dress appropriately. I can't stress this enough. It's a big course; imagine playing a round at LNF, with more up and downs. With that being said, dressing to stay warm is the way to go.

*** Wear boots *** There is ankle-deep snow out here in the country, sneakers won't cut it, believe me I've tried.

Also, my folks, being the great hosts' that they are, have had me make chilli and hot apple cider. Dad will have the firelight going for a bonfire to warm up to before and after the round... It’s going to be a nice time, feel free to plan on chilling for a while after the round if your schedule permits.

Hope to see you all out here on Sat.

Any questions let me know?

Stacie: 819-459-3034
