As more people earn their 6th result at an Ice League event this season, the rankings are getting tighter, and indeed that was the case yesterday at Flat Mountain, as the SYN and Godfather Cards were flying as never before.

Godfather Don got knocked off by Andros, and Godfather Rod both earned and burned his Godfather card on the same day. These and other Synners can post the full stories below.

The only thing louder than hearing someone yell SYN from across the field was when the SENS scored.... eight times... against Brother André's Habs, as the game was broadcast throughout the round. After the round, watching the final period of the OTT-MON game of Hockey Day in Canada on OMR's big screen, we thought of calling noted Habs fan Brother Eh!... but thought better of it and went back to the game. cool

10 players came out in the -6C chilly air, along with BBP who is nursing a "Father's Elbow" injury (Redline and Roxie take note). Shocked BBP should be good to go in a couple of weeks, well in time for the big show at the Ice Bowl on Saturday, Feb. 10th.

Ice League Results from the Flat Mountain 19 were:

1 - Splash & Rolly - 51 (-6) - 105 pts, $15.00 each
2= Twirly & Zonker - 52 (-5) - 99 pts
2= Roxie & OMR - 52 (-5) - 99 pts
4 - Kiwi & Svetz - 53 (-4) - 88 pts
5 - ET & Andros - 55 (-3) - 83 pts

The Ice Putt was busy both before and after the rounds, and saw Euro rip it up, with everyone else fighting for 2nd place. Zonker Rod, after some stellar play with Twirly on the fields at Flat Mountain, ended up taking second at the end of the day.

1 - 30 pts - Euro - 9 pts, $18.00, 10 Ice Bucks
2 - 19 pts - Zonker - 8 pts, CTP Winner, 20 Ice Bucks & a Godfather Card
3 - 17 pts - Twirly - 7 pts
4 - 16 pts - Splash - 6 pts
5 - 15 pts - Rolly - 5 pts
6 - 12 pts - Kiwi - 4 pts
7 - 10 pts - Roxie - 3 pts
8 - 7 pts - Andros - 2 pts
9 - 6 pts - OMR - 1 pt

People rising up the Ice Putt rankings include ET and Kiwi, who both moved up two spots, and the Zonker, who went from 18th to 11th.

The Ice League rankings, which like the Ice Putt rankings rewards the top-6 players at season's end with bonus Ice Bucks, also saw some upwards movement. Twirly moved in to the bronze medal position, Zonker broke in to the Ice Buck zone for the first time in 5th place, and both Roxie and ET moved up two spots.

Full results are now available here.

The location for the final three weeks of Ice League will be announced in a few days.

There was lots of white powder today, and the boys were sliding down the mountains on it in between holes. OMR was out with his video camera, so we're hoping that he'll be able to cut together something soon to showcase Stacie's breathtaking course. It's gorgeous with the snow, and sweet even without it.

Today we had 10 players out in -15C weather, with very light winds that made the wind chill factor feel like -24C.

Nobody was complaining though as the conditions were clean, clear, and bright out at the course.

# Return to Stacie's Grotto Score Points Partic. Ttl. Pts Payout
1 Geoff Penton & B. Svetkoff 53 100 5 105 $15.00 ea.
2 Claus R. & Stacie Sivyer 54 95 4 99
3= Carl Visser & A. Vallée 55 90 3 93
3= Rob Wormald & P.Bourgeois 55 90 3 93
5 Don Lane & Gavin Schnobb 56 82 1 83

The duo of Ben & BBP were on all day, and they were able to stay ahead of the rest of the cards, which were tightly placed throughout the 18-hole course.

Without a basket, and with a blazing first round by OMR, the Ice Putt stations were pretty quiet, and OMR's first round of 26 pts held up easily over my own mere run of 10 pts. OMR gets his IP entry fee back, and 10 more Ice Bucks for the Ice Auction. He also pushed Close out of the Top-6 in the Ice Putt ranking.

He hit the #9, #7, and the first four stations before he turned in to videographer mode.

On the Ice League rankingk, Roxie made the big jump of the day, climbing in to the top-6 in 5th place, displacing the Kalamazoo Kiwi who is happily visiting the wife this weekend. We miss them both!

The other major gain on the ranking was Close, who jumped in to 8th spot from 13th.

Current Ice League and Ice Putt rankings

We have only one Ice League event left before the Ice Bowl.

Next week we'll wrap up the League with a special SYN card special, and an open end on Mulligan Cards, which have to be all used next week, as we have different Mulligan Cards for the Ice Bowl. SYN cards don't exist at the Ice Bowl, so you'll want to wrap them up next week at JCP.

Thanks to all those who came out to Stacie's Grotto. BBP will be hosting another event there in a few months, so if you haven't had a chance yet to play there, you'll have another opportunity before the main part of the season starts in May.

The SYN Bombs were falling and the multiple mulligans were flying in a frenzy of activity. Thanks for helping us raise some extra $ for the Food Bank, and try out a novel new way to wrap up an Ice League season.

Zonker and the Closer had the most mullys between them, with 30something to start with, so they easily became target #1 for the many players with SYN Cards.

We put one caveat on the SYN cards in that any one player could only be synned once per shot, which worked out quite well. Synning went on both for good and for evil, with players balancing out their course karma on the final hole, with a lot of "good synning" going on.

With Phat Jeff's wedding going on today, we were down in numbers, but still had one mega-sized card of 8 players on the night-golfer (thanks boyz!) blue tees for 17 holes, and 1 replacement hole for #1, going from the far edge of the parking lot near the NCC garbage can to the #1 basket, which earned 5's and 6's on the scorecard.

Ben was happy to randomly draw Splash, which meant that he'd hold on to his 2nd place rank in the Ice League rankings going in to the Ice Bowl next week. Close pushed his teammate out of the top-6 with their 2nd place result, going from 8th place to 5th, with one quite low result yet to drop.

Congrats to the team of Euro & Andros, who after playing together a record four times this season, finally won as a team. big grin

Here are the full results from our final Ice League event:

# SYN City Saturday Blues @ JCP Score Points Partic. Ttl. Pts Payout
1 Stefan Dobrev & Andrew Vallée 52 100 4 104 $12.00 ea.
2 Claus R. & Rod Nicholls 54 95 3 98
3 Don Lane & Ben Svetkoff 55 90 2 92
4 Jeff Larivière & G. Schnobb 56 86 1 87

Any Mulligan or SYN cards you still may have are now souvenirs from the 2006/07 Ice League season. Many thanks to those who purchased them throughout the season - hope you had some fun with them. Very Happy

A unique type of Mulligan Card will be available for use at the Ice Bowl, and will be printed in limited numbers. Mulligans at the Ice Bowl cost the same as the regular ones did during Ice League, $2/each or 3/$5. A maximum of 6 Mulligan Cards can be purchased and used by any one player.

The Ice Putt had 5 players this week, with a challenging setup and some cold fingers by the end of the day. ET came out on top with 15 pts, followed by Andros and Splash at 14.

Full results from both the IP and the IL are now posted.

Thanks for a great season - see you all at The Ice Bowl!
