Week 18 is the final week of the inaugural Tuesday Ottawa Singles Series season. We'll be playing our last round of the year from the Blue teepads. Those that were out last week know that finishing in daylight was a challenge, so we'll be closing registration at 6:00 pm sharp in order to be golfing by 6:10pm. Cards will be seeded according to your current quarterback standing, and then by player handicap. To speed up play, we will also maximize the number of three player cards.

New players are always welcome on Tuesday nights. You don't need a player handicap or quarterback standing to participate. We would like to have you join us!

Player handicaps for the final round of the season are as follows:
Family Name Given Name Handicap
Bason Mark 12
Bourgeois Paul 14
Burgoin Chris 14
Darcovich Ken 8
Dobrev Stefan 3
Doucette Dan 14
Fowler Mike 19
Heard Pat 9
Heginbottom James 9
Lane Don 10
Lariviere Jeff 13
Leach Andrew 11
Legare Pierre 20
Lepack Jason 10
Leslie Robyne 22
McCormick Luke 14
McCormick Mike 14
McDonald Colin 8
Meldrum Jeff 5
Myre Stephane 18
Pengelly Arthur 10
Pengelly Dawn 16
Penton Geoff 7
Pinches Craig 19
Rancourt Marc 8
Reitlingshoefer Claus 8
Rowland Geoff 8
Schnobb Gavin 15
Seguin Serge 15
Sivyer Stacie 16
Stott Brett 11
Svetkoff Ben 14
Vinet Eric 9
Visser Carl 8
Wormald Rob 5

Quarterback Standings moving into the final week are as follows:
Rank Last First 1st Round 2nd Round Total
1 Wormald Rob 49 48 97
2 Reitlingshoefer Claus 47 52 99
3 Lane Don 51 52 103
3 Dobrev Stefan 50 53 103
5 Vinet Eric 51 54 105
5 Pengelly Arthur 49 56 105
7 Penton Geoff 54 54 108

A quick note on how the quarterback pools would be created, provided attendance is perfect next week:

Handicaps for eligable players are as follows:
Last First Handicap
Dobrev Stefan 3
Wormald Rob 5
Penton Geoff 7
Reitlingshoefer Claus 8
Visser Carl 8
Vinet Eric 9
Lane Don 10
Pengelly Arthur 10
Bourgeois Paul 14
Svetkoff Ben 14
Schnobb Gavin 15
Pengelly Dawn 16
Leslie Robyne 22
Despaties Gilles

Now, unless there are howls of protest, I'm going to waive the rule that would otherwise require Gilles to enter the "A" pool due to his not yet having established a handicap. Gilles will instead be seeded where he is in the QB standings, which is 13th spot. (If it becomes impossible to have three pools otherwise, I will move Gilles to the "A" pool to allow for the greater depth and broader pay-out.)

14 players makes for up to three pools.
Forming the "A" pool, the handicap cut-off is set at 8 (representing the value between the 4th and 5th on the list). Carl, Claus, Geoff, Rob, and Stefan would form this pool (recall that all handicaps tied with the cut-off move forward).
Of the remaining nine players, the median handicap value is 14, so Ben, Paul, Arthur, Don, and Eric will compete in the "B" pool (once again, the tied handicap value moves forward).
That leaves Gavin, Dawn, Robyne and Gilles fighting for the "C" pool.

Any last-minute changes due to attendance will be made prior to the start of the round.

Cheers!

There are two examples of this above. Ties move to the more competitive pool. See the total breakdown here: Quarterback Summary A and here: Quarterback Summary B

Just a reminder to everyone that daylight will be at a premium tonight, even though we are playing the blues.

Your arrival at JCP before 6:00pm will be essential to our finishing before it gets too dark.

Cards will be grouped so as to maximize the number of three-player cards.

Cards will be ordered according to your quarterback standing... but I'm reserving the right to shift players around if more than one player of "notorious routine and stalwart concentration" would otherwise fall on the same card.

See you in a bit.

We can't make it by 6, it's just a bit to far at that time of day so we've decided to stay home tonight. frown

Hope it's a nice evening for you guys and girls. Very Happy

I would like to take the opportunity to thank all of the participants in this, the inaugural Tuesday Ottawa Singles Series season. Together we've established the basis of a great disc golf program, and your support has made all of the effort worthwhile. I've enjoyed every moment of the season, and I hope that you did too. It is with enthusiasm that we can look forward to the 2007 season, and the excellent disc golf that it promises.
