Haven't played Fortune yet? This is the perfect time to do it. You'll get a personalized tour of one of the most beautiful, challenging, funnest and toughest course in Canada. I'd say North America, but I haven't played them all, but I've done a good chunk of Canada's. JCP will get you hooked; CF will get you better!

The bugs might be bad, so get your deet out.

Hey Gavin, has the swelling gone down yet?...your ankle was huge by the time you left, your mother (was she a nurse?) probably has good advice where that is concerned. Listen to what she says, patience will pay off in that you will be able to play later on, if you give it complete rest now (I know it's not easy).
If you decide to play through the pain, the price might be high later on buddy...especially if you take pain killers and make it worse, but if you play, ice it afterwards and keep it elevated.
My 2 cents...or am I up to 4?

Ice it as much as possible Hobbler. Everyday for 30 minutes or so.

Ice to keep swelling down is fine...longer than fifteen minutes may cause blood to rush to the area being iced to keep it from freezing, this blood rush is what we are trying to avoid.
Golden rule is: Ice fifteen minutes on fifteen minutes off, for the first 48 hours after an injury.

This heat is doing wonders for the bugs! I can't be sure about fortune, but at my house yesterday's heat made a dramatic difference.

Sunday - unable to stand outside for more than 5 minutes without losing it.
Monday - 2 hour hammock nap without a single bite!

Folks,
we'll be starting at 6:30pm sharp at Camp Fortune this evening. To save me from having to walk around with the registration material, I'm going to ask that everyone meet in the lower parking lot (near the 18th hole teepad by chair lift). Also, any holes played before you register will only be considered practice holes, and you'll have to play them again for them to count.

Daylight is getting longer, and we have about 10 minutes per hole if we start on time, and WE WILL START AT 6:30pm SHARP!

Cards will be random draw.

Just a quick word about disc golf at Camp Fortune:
It is easy to lose a disc on this course. The course demands accuracy much more than distance. Errant shots will disappear quickly off of any fairways. Here's a mental "trick" to help you find your disc:

No matter how good or bad your shot is, no matter how great the urge is to look aways from your shot, no matter how happy or disappointed you are with the throw, DON'T TAKE YOUR EYES OFF OF YOUR DISC UNTIL IT STOPS MOVING!

There will be at least three people on every card, so work together to spot your shots.

I'm looking forward to our first Tuesday night round at Camp Fortune.

Cheers!
-Paul

Another Trick:

Identify landmarks as the disc nears the ground.

Lamp posts, specific colour foliage, snow making pipes etc. make it easier to pinpoint the location that your disc landed.

Once you get good at this, you'll rarely lose a disc.
