hey
I heard a rumour that there's a golf course at Vincent Massey park, any truth to this? I figure it's not ODGC run, tho

An old friend and I designed an object course there in the fall of 1993. Info on the course is linked on the club's extensive disc golf links page:
http://www.geocities.com/ottawadiscgolf/dglinks.html

Specifically, the info on the object course is located over here: http://www.geocities.com/ottawadiscgolf/vmp-layout.html

The course is fairly long, with many doglegs, and uses almost all of the park. It was designed to be a Par-72 course, with a balanced amount of Par-3, 4, and 5 holes. I've never shot better than par at the course, which has several added penalties throughout the length of it which are designed to discourage throws from landing in certain areas of the park.

It's best played in non-peak times (daytime, after work on a Mon-Fri, or on overcast days), as VMP is a well-used public park, and some holes go through highly trafficed areas.

I don't play it as often as I used to, now that we have Jack Carter in town, but I still enjoy the challenges of the course. It's best if you play it with someone familiar with it the first time, and then you'll be able to bring in other people to introduce it to them. Drop me a line sometime and I'll play a round with you and any others who want some variety and play an established object course.

The 17th hole used to be longer, but they removed some of the signs which I used as objects. Every year I have to tweak the course a bit due to vandalism or the NCC's love of park restructuring.

I'll play a round with you when I get back from The Peg to see if my hole descriptions were bang on enough for you to have played the course as it was designed (and using the same penalties). I've got a scorecard for it too, which I'll give you upon my return.

Glad you liked it.
