Nice work Don! Much appreciated. Maybe you should cut that ace pool down to $140 and take $20 for yourself for all the work you're doing.

Again, thanks!

I guess we were keeping score slightly different last night.

How do you read these results. ex Visser 10/9

Did Visser win 10 holes versus his opponents 9 or was he up 10 holes with only 9 holes left and so his victory was assured?

The way we score a match play result is a bit different than how you ususally see results. The way to read it is:

Seaby 4/3 = Seaby wins the match after being 4 holes up with 3 holes left to play. At that point, the match is mathematically over, and anything beyond that is just played for fun.

... so your second assumption was correct.

The only downside to a 10/9 score is that you make it harder for yourself or your partner to win the Ace Pool, because as soon as your match is mathematically over, it is really over - and so is your ability to win the Ace Pool in that match. If you play the rest, it's just for fun - or for TAGS. Luckily I held Simon Kaegi off from my TAG over the last four holes of the course (and a very dark Hole #1 in overtime). Good thing either of us didn't take on Wah - he was firing rockets!

The tableau is now posted:

You'll be able to see who you're up against, and who you soon might be up against – just to make the trash talking easier. ;-D

Perhaps someone can explain something to me. I was looking at the tableau and I noticed that Carl beat Nick 10/9. How is that possible?! Even if he won every hole up to the 9th then he'd be 9 up with 9 left to go, and then if he won the 10th hole then he'd be 10/8. Is this just a typo?

A typo or a matho.

You're right, it should have been recorded at 10/8. Carl won 10 holes straight, and then Nick left to get home in time for dinner.

The corrected version of the tableau is now posted at http://www.geocities.com/ottawadiscgolf/MPS-II-tableau.xls

I've heard of two results this past weekend - perhaps there were more...

Round "A" results:

Steve Penny vs Steve Seabrook
Penny 1 up, 18 holes

Round "B" results:

Jeff Meldrum vs Don Lane
Meldrum 3/2

Hopefully we'll soon hear of the remaining three Round "A" matches so that we can complete round "B" on schedule.

Don,

I've tried multiple times to access the tableau at the link you specified above and I keep getting the message that the link is not found.

Try this one, which includes the latest "A" round result,

Derek Manning vs Steve Selkirk
Selkirk 6/4

http://www.geocities.com/ottawadiscgolf/MPS-II-tableau.xls

Please let me know if it works for you, otherwise I'll do it another way.

Cut and paste the link into the address instead of clicking it. This seems to work for some reason.

Ok, maybe it was something to do with capitalization. I've deleted the above files from the site and replaced them with these ones:

Result from last night:

Lange defeats Manning, 1 up, 21 holes.

A great match, in which I was lucky to come out alive, as he was 2 up after 15. I pulled back to even after 17, and his approach was far right on eighteen while mine was not quite a gimme putt, but close enough. He made a HUGE clutch putt, however, and took us to extra holes. I had a great drive on 19, put it just past the base of the tree, but he put his approach right under the basket, so I played conservative, and we went on to 20. Neither of us had great drives, although mine was a fair bit better, as he was far left. Dean nailed his approach, however, leaving himself a gimme for par. My approach went left, and it was my turn to make the clutch putt for par (although not as far as Dean's on 1Cool. On to 21, his drive went left of the basket, and I parked mine for the gimme birdie. His long putt attempt bounced off the edge of the basket, and the game was mine.

Thanks for the great game, Dean... and sorry about the car (someone smashed one of Dean's small back windows while we played the round )

Cheers!

Ken

Sounds like a great match guys!

However - as for the vandalism against us - we are under siege! We have to do something about all the damage this year.
