Here's what I just posted on DGO. I'm told of some Quebec and Hamilton area players are coming but no registrations yet. Hoping to see some more numbers but just in case. For the local people I see less bowing out cause there is still all the added cash that needs to be distributed. CHeers.

Registrations are slowly trickling in. Nice. Registrations at Ettyville are like a bar fight. Never happens early and you never know how crazy it will get.

That being said:

1) the event will happen no matter what.
2) register for the divisions you would compete in at the Provincial final (we'll deal with combining any divisions after the fact)
3) I will publish the registered list on Wednesday. My purpose is to run a competitive disc golf tournament. If anybody, post Wednesday, wants to bow out because they don't feel their division numbers are making it competitive they can have a full refund.

Hope to see you come out.

That's an excellent idea!

I will not be heading out there until Saturday morning. If anyone wishes to pick up the PS3 and steering wheel earlier, I would be happy to hand it over... might get me out of figuring out how to set the thing up.

The last time I played GT was in the garage at Ettyville.

Still chasing my ghost car.... well probably not. Was a great display of alcohol and driving impairment. No Johnnny Fever in that house. Good times.

Hey guys, just wondering about the provincial spots. If we have less than 4 ladies in advanced, are we still going to have a chance at winning a spot for provincials next year?
Is there a list somewhere of who won which spots so far, incl for ladies? Did the OO count?
Thanks!
Steph

I'll answer what I can and share some ODSA tour standards.
There is a list of qualified players on the ODSA site. Look under Ontario tour. The standards doc is there too.

The high level is register where you should and yes there's always a chance to qualify. There are a few conditions you'll see below.

I don't know about the OO.

From the tour standards:

Players must ‘Earn’ their way into The Championships. Qualification spots may not be given to
competitors finishing below the "50% cut" in a qualifying tournament. There are two exceptions:
- It is a women's division or consists or 6 or fewer players.
In these cases, all positions except last place are eligible to receive a qualifying spot for The
Championship. If 50% of the division is a decimal, the number of potential qualifier spots is
rounded up. ex. A division of 17 players may qualify up to 9th place.

The ODSA recognizes that from time to time, a player may not be able to enter into a division
that they intend to compete in, due to low attendance in their division. Upon consulting
with the TD, the player will be placed into an appropriate division for which to compete. The
TD must make note of this before play commences. For the intent and purpose of The
Championships only, this player is still eligible to qualify for their originally intended division.
If the player happens to finish in a qualifying position in the division in which they have been
placed, the next eligible player on the leader board will qualify for that division. The player
subject to being entered in the unintended division will also qualify in their intended
division if they satisfy the following criteria; 1) They shoot 50% or more of their
tournament rounds above their PDGA rating, or 2) They finish in the top 50% of the
field of their unintended, but appropriate division (ie MM1 playing MA1, MPM playing
MPO). In other words, by default, a player will automatically qualify in their originally
intended division, if they do not have enough competitors to create that division and satisfy
the aforementioned baseline criteria. In fairness to the player, and through no fault of their
own, if attendance is too low to create their intended division, and they wish to compete
in The Championships against their divisional peers, they must be allowed to do so in this
manner. This exception takes precedence over other qualification requirements.

I posted this on the DGO forum.....

Speaking with my trusty co-td he suggests a list of names. As of this moment these people are registered.

As of this moment each of these people will have an additional added cash of $850/15 players = $56.66 plus $40 off their registration added to the payout mix

So for these 15 players they are paying $65 to compete in divisions where there is $116.66 per player available for payout. Plus a T shirt and lunch both days and camping and side games.

Note: All these payouts are subject to change based on registrations numbers.

Wallace Kent
Allan Walker
Calum MacKenzie
Andrew Vallee
Andrew Kauffmann
Danielle Duplisea
Spike
Chris Beaudoin
Brenda Cox
Chris Bourne
Jared Oldford
Stephanie Clavel
Mario Houle
Rob Hale
John Pytel

This format and event is for YOU golfers. Hope to see you out.

Registration closes at midnight tonight.

Anyone want to get a practice round in today after work? I'm thinking 5:30-ish (or sooner if I can sneak out early...)

A huge thank you again to John and family for hosting a great weekend. It was my first Ettyville disc golf experience and I am sure it won't be the last. Great hospitality, excellent disc golf on a beautiful and challenging course, and wonderful weather - a perfect weekend in my books! Cheers!

A perfect weekend indeed.

I've never seen Ettyville in such pristine condition, kudos to John and his crew for all the hard work on and off the course.

I quite enjoyed splitting up the 27 holes over the morning and afternoon it made for a more relaxing setting and was well received from what I could tell.

The Pytels collective hospitality is apparent even if you have only been there once. It's a hospitality that's rare in today's society and one that I will continue to support and indulge in whenever I get the chance.
