I haven't posted on the forum in years, but this is in my backyard so thought I would share in case people didn't know or needed to be involved.

Cumberland councillor Stephen Blais has proposed a new park at beside the Francois Dupuis Recreation Centre (Brian Coburn and Portobello) and included is a Disc golf course.

Details can be found here:

http://stephenblais.ca/en/latest-news/645-concepts-for-massive-new-park-at-fdrc

Cheers,

PEACH

With both design plans allocating a space 300' by 750' for the disc golf course, it's not going to be 18 holes...

I'll be going to this open house and propose that we be.consulted for the design and layout of this course. There's so much land and no need for it to be confined to the proposed area.

I would also move the bmx track from the back 40 up closer to the parking lot so the parents and ambulances have easier access to the carnage.

Also a lot of paths in that park. OPU's on bikes and roller blades. Hard to see them coming before you release.

Great find Peach!!

I sent this:

Hi Luc,

My name is Colin McDonald, a long-time Orléans resident and disc golfer. I also happen to be a member of the Ottawa Disc Golf Club, yes, there actually is one. smile

I noticed on the Preliminary Concept Plan for this future park that you have already thought about including "Frisbee Golf" or "Disc Golf". This is awesome news! I'm very interested in ensuring the successful integration of a Disc golf course into this multi-use park space, by both primarily ensuring the safety of all park users while at the same time as ensuring the maximum usage and success of the course itself.

There is an excess of local experience in designing courses, and there has never been a time with more resources online in helping to design courses while keeping safety at the forefront. (see attached photo, an exert from one guide in particular: https://www.discgolfpark.com/2018/03/14/disc-golf-course-safety-defines-legacy/).

How can I get involved and be consulted by the city to help make this a safe and fun disc golf course for the local residents? Is there Anything I can do to help, even though it's very early in the process?

Thanks, Colin
