Wanting to play but the extra non-member fees are kinda rich for my blood....considering it is trophy only.

I will be bringing a box of discs if anyone's interested in buying or trading some Saturday.

The $8 ODSA membership fee is a one time only fee for the season. It is a requirement for the insurance coverage provided to participants and the club. You will have to pay it at some event over the course of the season in Ontario.

It is not trophy only. This is actually the first year that we have a trophy (almost had it ready last year).

Instead of having payouts for just the top 2 or 3 winners, this tournament style has equal payouts per 2nd round card. The trophy is just bonus for the overall winner. So even if you are on the last card in the 2nd round, coming 1st on the card wins you something. And there is a ctp kind of thing per card in the 2nd round. Plus other ctp/longest putt/ring of fire things. Only $3 of the $15 goes to the club, the rest and more goes into the tournament.

As for the non-member extra fees, the $8 ODSA insurance is protection for the land owners, the club and club volunteers who run tournaments against being sued should you fall off a cliff and hurt yourself then say it was our fault for not telling you there was a cliff there. Or if you happen to ding another person with an errant disc and they sue us. Like Ryan says, if you plan on playing any ODGC event, you will need to pay the $8 insurance (for that matter, most tournaments in Ontario require it except for the ODTour stuff).

Edit, the insurance also provides you some coverage should you hurt yourself.

And, kind of like we did at Falling Colours last year, we're going to have some fun trying to put putters through the open window of my s**tbox Protege. But this year, there's extra incentive. The first person to "make the putt" will win a free entry to the Capital Classic (registration fee only, extra fees must still be payed by the player), sponsored by me.

Each player will receive three free attempts to make the putt. If more than one player makes the putt, there will be a putt-off. Additional "qualifier for the putt-off" putts will be available for $1.00 each, with all funds going to the 2013 Capital Classic.

Where else but in Ottawa do you get the chance to actually use a car as a target?

I think describing your shitbox as a car is a little generous.

See, this kind of thing is why I love you guys!

(This may be the LAST event where we get to intentionally throw discs at Mark's shitbox... Something newer, and much nicer is approaching from the horizon...)

Just to clarify; participation in OD tour events also requires ODSA membership as they are also insured under our policy

Hmm...we can usually just sign forms taking responsibility for any injuries or accidents that should occur.

I will check my account tomorrow and figure out if I can play...considering I am already planning on attending the OD Shire event.

Whatever may happen I hope you all have fun!

Thanks!

Just heard that the South River event has $500 added even though it is only a C-tier so I am going to look into my options there real fast.

As I can't play due to work commitments I'd be glad to pay any money you are lacking and become your sponsor.

The GOAT truly represents one of the finest tournaments that the Ottawa disc golf community has to offer. I don't think you should miss it if you are free to play Saturday.

Mike, if this is accepted I'll contact you through PM to get the money to you ASAP.
