ODGC Code of Conduct

Disc golf demands high regard to etiquette and courtesy.

The Ottawa Disc Golf Club strives to deliver a world class disc golf experience to be enjoyed by knowledgeable and considerate participants. In order to continue to make the ODGC experience a rewarding and enjoyable one, the ODGC requires all members and guests to adhere to the ODGC Code of Conduct. The Code of Conduct is to be followed throughout all ODGC events and activities.

Not knowing this code or any of the rules or regulations expected of a disc golfer, whether implied or expressed explicitly here, is not an excuse for a violation of the ODGC Code of Conduct.

Players, spectators, officials and event organizers who participate in, or organize ODGC events are to conduct themselves in the following manner:

- They will respect other players, event staff, volunteers, spectators, rules officials, and all others by demonstrating the decorum consistent with the expectations of the ODGC.
- They will extend the courtesies defined by the PDGA in the Official Rules of Disc Golf.
- They will adhere to the terms of use of the course or property as made known by the course or land manager.
- They will act in a way that considers the safety of others as the greatest priority and will not encourage others to engage in an activity that could result in an injury to any person or property.
- They will respect the rights, dignity and worth of all participants regardless of their gender, ability, family status, physical or mental disability, age, race, pardoned conviction, colour, sexual orientation, marital status, cultural background or religion.
- They will control their temper. Verbal abuse of officials and taunting other players and deliberately distracting or provoking an opponent are not acceptable or permitted behaviours in any sport
- Players will attend any mandatory meetings identified by the Tournament Director.
- Players will display modesty in victory and graciousness in defeat

Prohibited activities include but are not limited to:
- uttering abusive or hateful words, even where these are not directed towards a specific individual
- abusing or damaging the course or property
- knowingly violating the rules, or colluding to violate the rules of disc golf
- throwing or kicking things in anger or frustration
- vandalizing the course
- demonstrating bad temperament or threatening the well being of another competitor, spectator, volunteer, official, or any other person
- engaging in conduct that is considered detrimental to the goals and objectives of the ODGC or the game of disc golf.
