Ben Houle is not ranked properly as he has no stats history. He will be plugged into the list where others advise he should be. Never seen him play I think.

Only change I would make is swap Atos with Dolliver, other than that looks fair.

I dont know, Atos has Doliver beat in all 3 categories...
and Atos did play more then 2 games last year in OMPL...not that anyone ever complained about people signing up and donating their entry fee to the cause...

What happens to the list if you drop PC points? Remember that not all players at all events get PC points, even if they participate, and that PC points is dependent on the number of events played. If Darco had played only one PC points event last year (taking his highest PC points result), would it be fair to him to index him at around 10?

Performance ratio and handicap are great statistics to use, as they offer the best available index of how well an ODGC player plays against the field. PC points is too volatile a statistic (number of events played, AM2 players not getting PC points at some events, etc.)

Early last year, Dolliver and I were near equivalent players. He's probably bested me by now. I didn't have the greatest year in 2012.

I realize that and I realize meat of dolivers stats come from 2011 (long ago regarding his DG game). We do need to have a degree of consistency, for all. What I want to avoid is if I move Doliver, then what about the next person who should be moved? I dont want it to snowball into a "I should be here" kind of situation with a few people. Ill ask those involved what they think should happen.

If a player played 1 event and got 100 points I interpolate that score to equal if they played 5 events. Examples:
1/100 : 5/x . Solve for x.
or 3 events scored 357 pts
3/357 : 5/x . Solve for x.

This is used for all people who played less then 5 events.

Not getting pts for playing Am2 does not influence the stats much, and the ranks across the 3 categories are pretty consistent. HC and rating can be heavily influenced if the player had a good final month of last years season, the PC points help balance out the impact of a good last month.

If you want a fresh stat. regarding Dolliver, just look at where he finished (and what div. he played) at the Ice Bowl.

My personal opinion: If you're comfortable with your indexing system, stick with it, and ignore the complainers. You have a statistical method defined for assigning players this season. If Dan is a better golfer than I am, but he ranks in a lower division than me this year, then: "Sorry, that's what the stats say." If he's genuinely better than me (and this goes for any two players in the league), he may get promoted, and I may be relegated for 2014.

Because it's basically a brand new league, there will be hiccups for the first couple of seasons, as returning players are sorted into the appropriate divisions through promotion and relegation.

Question:

How many players do you plan to promote from B to A and C to B for 2014?

Rolly,

Consider having 2 divisions of 8 players, each division is equal in strength (ie 1,3,5,7,9,11,13,15 in one, 2,4,6,8,10,12,14,16 the other )

Play everyone one in your division. Top players of each division enter playoffs (Some playoff matches would be crossovers)

Because we like stats:

I will have played in all three divisions. (2 then 1 then 3) Anyone else?
