Ottawa's Ice League continues this weekend
Sat. Dec. 8th, 2012 at a special temp layout near Mountain, ON.

We will be playing at Dan Phillips' newly acquired property on a technical 9 hole course through the woods with a nice mix of different shots.

THINGS TO KNOW:

I will be taking registration and running Ice Putt at 10:30am at HQ
and we will be starting up promptly at 11:00am.

DIRECTIONS TO THE COURSE:

HWY 416: Take the 416 south to the Kemptville (HWY 43) exit.
Turn left on HWY 43 heading eastbound and continue for ~12km
at which point you will take a right onto HWY 1.
Continue on HWY 1 across the railroad tracks then take a right onto
Simms Rd. then an immediate left onto Ronson Rd.
Travel to the end of Ronson Rd. then turn in to the last driveway on your left.

From Albion Rd: Take Albion Rd. south to Stagecoach Rd.
At the end of Stagecoach take a left onto HWY 43 at which point
you will take a right onto HWY 1.
Continue on HWY 1 across the railroad tracks then take a right onto
Simms Rd. then an immediate left onto Ronson Rd.
Travel to the end of Ronson Rd. then turn in to the last driveway on your left.

The street address is: 10254 Ronson Rd.

Hope to see you all out here on Saturday!

Is this the new Mountain course that people went out and helped design last month?

Yes, me and some of the design crew went out and walked the course and some of Phillips' land.

I wouldn't say we helped design his course though we just gave him some pointers to send him in the right direction. And from what I saw he very much is headed in the right direction.

For those of you who came out to last years Mountain ice league this course shares some of the same land and I think 1 hole will be the same.

Most of this layout will eventually become the front 9 of an 18 hole course. The 18 is a long term plan because most of my land is very heavily wooded and will require a lot of work.

If anyone wants to come out early Saturday and get in a warm up round your welcome to. Also if you want to stick around after I could be convinced to order a pizza. There will be a cooler out with some refreshments as well.

If anyone wants to come here and play after Ice league the course is open to the public on a call ahead basis. I can be reached at 613 297 3123.

If you plan on coming I would suggest solid boots or shoes some of the holes are on freshly cut bush and there are a few trip hazards and sharp sticks out there. I doubt this will be a problem as this is ice league and no one should be wearing sandals.

Nice, we need to get you out of the basement of the Ice Putt standings though.

I'll make sure to not let OMR design any more Ice Putt stations in the future. laughing

I'm kind of warming up to the idea of going through the entire season with a single ice putt point. laughing

...and then he might think that the first version of the Ice Putt is the "Stupidest side game ever" instead of the current version. I would disagree, but I don't find the current version all that stupid. I've actually seen permanent versions at a couple of courses arount the US.

Since when does his opinion get in the way of a (potentially) good story?

Whose opinion? Thumber's? What story? The story of the first version of Ice Putt? Not much of a story. Can't even find a reference to it on this thing. How good of a story could that be then?
