First Rec League of the season!

What a way to start! Sunny, dry, hardly any bugs at all. The cursed trees were lush, the ground a little crispy. And was that a shiny new course sign? I believe it was.

We had eleven people show up this week. A few familiar faces, a few new ones. Rec League enthusiast Adrian apparently feels the Club needs a little more balance in our duplicate name list, so he brought out his friend Adrian. A new lady out on the course made for a great night. Welcome Tiffany! Last but not least, a big welcome to a player who belongs to the discs with whom a few of you have already become acquainted, the newest ODGC member, Rick McCulloch!

A lot of great play out there last night. SeaKyle brought in the best score of 46 to win himself a fine Kanata DGC Stratus. Gentleman that he is, Cyle kindly donated his prize to new comer Adrian. Thanks Cyle!

Because I neglected to hand out CTP flags, extra prizes were doled out for highest score on #5/14 and lowest score on #1/10. Lots of twos came in for hole 1, and quite a few players racked up sixes on 5. Way to go folks?

In a very complicated lottery system, Leppy came away with a Mill St. t-shirt for his deuce on hole 1 and Steve Crane earned himself an Ice Bowl Roc for his six* on 14. It's not every player that can shoot their personal best and earn a prize for their worst hole. Well done! Steve was also in a sportsmanlike kind of mood, and donated his prize to Adrian. Seems you cleaned up, Adrian!

Our big winner of the night was the lovely Tiffany! She eked out as much value from her registration fee as she could, earning herself a brand-spanking-new Magnet putter! No longer will you be a one disc wonder, Madame! Congrats!

A very special thank you to Cyle and Andros for bringing out extra loaner discs. In my very thorough planning for the league, I neglected to re-acquire the box of club loaners, and these wonderful human beings put up some of their own plastic for the cause. Thank you so much fellas!!

*I may have gotten the best/worst awards for Leppy and Steve mixed up; this doesn't affect the awarding of prizes, just the reason for it.

Scores to follow.

Also, I might add, neatly taking myself out of contention for any 'most improved score' discs for the remainder of Rec League. Unless you start handing out swag for Most Improved Score Compared to Corresponding Rec League Night From Last Year. I could make a case for that. Yes, I checked.

A fine night of tomfrolfery, and for those who didn't show, seeing Leppy playing right handed was worth the trip in and of itself.

I forgot to mention Leppy's non-cheater throws.

I would have been reminded by the score card, I'm sure.

I was going to say that I was pretty certain that I didn't get any better than a 6 on that damned hole. Pun intended.

PS: Andros said that he plays like a girl when he plays left-handed. I must say, after playing right handed for the first time, I played like a very frustrated girl.

Thanks Holly, I had fun.

In case it helps anyone: I will be driving from Aylmer on Thursday nights. If anyone could use a ride, or would like to carpool, I am willing.

See you next week!
