The Sherbrooke Open will be held Oct.2nd at Golf de L'Estrie, the new 18 basket course in town. Although a few slight details may be altered...the basic information is in. You'll find it here:

http://sites.google.com/site/discgolfdelestrie/home/info-tournois/sherbrooke-open/-sherbrooke-open

Special collectable Prize for top Ottawa Player !!!

Motel 4 minutes from the course, rooms starting at $39
http://sites.google.com/site/discgolfdelestrie/home/hotel-motel

Whats a 4-5 hour drive when you got the all Celine Station pumping the Jams?
Produced by Disc Golf Sherbrooke, all benefits will go towards Disc Golfers.
This tournament does have $ 1 taken from entry fees for a scoreport fundraiser and $ 5 dollars green fees taken from entries for exclusive tournament use of the course. The $5 dollar fee to the course will constitute a lost from their regular golf buisness..so in effect it is a sponsership.

Give it a shot.

I'm preregistered for this event, very much looking forward to playing two ball golf courses in two days (Sherbrooke and the Plaid). At this time, there are three spots open in my car for the drive to Sherbrooke, leaving Ottawa VERY early Saturday morning, and returning Saturday night.

Let me know if you want to grab a spot.

Cheers,
Mark

Quite well. The course was/is very short, and my approach game was relatively on (for me) on Saturday. I finished the two rounds 18 strokes behind Pat Huot, the Open winner, but with a seven stroke lead in AM2.

Once again, like at Lost in Lennox, had I played AM1, I would have finished (tied) for fourth, but fifteen strokes out of first, and one stroke back of third.

CTPete puts on a great tournament. Even when he himself is a little disorganized at times, the tournament runs smooth as silk, and his prize packs are great. I plan on continuing to win them in the coming years!

Prize pack contents: Sherbrooke Disc Golf T-Shirt, Ript Revenge card game, First Run Champion SL, Sherbrooke Open Stamped R-Pro Dart, Lost in Lennox Stamped mini, and a sweet home-made wall plaque declaring me the winner of AM2 at the Sherbrooke Open. Not bad for a $20 buy-in.

My card-mates, Hugues Beaudoin and Karl Orichefqui (and my only AM2 competitors) were great fun, we had laughs, and we had some tight competition in the first round, but out of the box on the third round, I went par-birdie-birdie, and it was pretty much a cakewalk from there on out. Stroke management was the phrase of the afternoon. Not sure how many times I told myself I didn't need to be the hero. smile

Again, a tournament I'd recommend Ottawa players play. It's great fun, and I have a feeling we'd clean up out there. big grin

Nice dude, I've been interested to take a look at that RIPT card/frolf game.
Keep it close to you as I'd like to take a look at it and maybe use it for an Ice League event.

I'm glad you enjoyed yourself Mark, I was very pleased to see you down here at both events. Remember to handle your trophies with lint free white gloves only.
We had a record amount of players for an event here in the townships, Bonus!!! 29 players made the trip, including a fellow from New Jersey who made the 11 hour trip.
Although "short" in comparison today's layouts I am not fully comfortable calling it a short course. Yes, 9 holes can be reached with a properly thrown putter ( which few do ), the top deuce count for a player in Open was 6 after 43 holes, this on a very open course.
The final seven holes were long, and with 1 hole left ,3 players were 1 back of Pat...Mark is right , I was disorganised and choose the wrong shot on the last hole for a double.
I managed to meet and talk to everybody... and the numbers part, the tabulations, the calculations...well ..I'm alergic to numbers and that will never change.

Here are the results:

Yes yes. Maybe next year I'll step up to getting my ass handed to me in AM1. We shall see!

Better than beating on the AM2s

You were one stroke out of 3rd....I would not describe that as getting your butt handed to you

Winning plastic doesn't make you better; playing with people who are better than you does.

That's a worthy quote that deserves to be ones signature.
