So, today at Ice League, I was playing with Wilder and Steven, and while we were on hole one, Steven accidentally threw one of Wilder's discs (they looked the same but Steven's said geoff on it) and so we gave him a penalty storke because we thought that that was part of the rules.

Can anyone clear up whether this is actually a penatly or not?

It depends if he played from Wilder's lie or not...

803.09 says:

quote:
A. A player who has thrown from another player's lie shall receive two penalty throws, without a warning. The offending player shall complete the hole as if the other player's lie were his or her own. No throws shall be replayed.

B. The player whose lie was played by the offending player shall be given an approximate lie as close to the original lie as possible, as determined by the offending player, a majority of his or her group, or an official. See section 803.10 C if the disc has been declared lost.

I think this deals with your situation. I don't think that it's illegal to play with a disc that has someone else's name on it...is it? BBP?

It's very helpful. I'll make sure you get your own hard copy, too!

You can tell him that you gave him a break. He was supposed to get two penalty strokes, not just one.

BTW,
I've found great benefit in marking the TOP of the disc, not just the bottom. Sure, put your name and number on the bottom of the disc so that someone that finds it can get it back to you, but if you put a unique mark on top of your disc, you don't have to flip it over to see if it is yours. Steven would never have used the wrong disc if he was looking for his mark on the top of the disc.

Cheers!

That is a good idea, but see, Steven's disc said geoff on the top, and Wilder's said nothing, but Steven still threw Wilder's anyway.

I guess you could say we gave him a break, and he was complainging about getting one stroke... He should consider himself lucky...

Hey what's with the kiddies posting during the day. What have you done with Leach the teach? Did you overthrow him and take over his computer?
