So here I am in Mississauga dealing with some family business and I need to blow off some steam. It's a beautiful, warm Sunday and I make my way to Etobicoke's Centennial Park and its 27 hole course.

I am armed with a course map and I meet up with a lone golfer (Eric) warming up on #18. I ask him the location of tee #1 and he offers to take me around the course. Cool! It turned out to be a good thing because the course is not that easy to find.

After he puts his first drive about 10 feet from the pin on each of the first three holes we played (and he kept doing it), I asked him how long he'd been playing DG. His answer: 18 years. It turns out he's a pro and is married to Elaine King (Canada's athlete for DG at the World games).

I'd never seen someone come so close to acing so many holes.

I did manage to beat him on two of the 27 holes (One was a birdie!).

It was a very humbling experience. I'm just glad that he was not golfing with his wife as I would've just felt bad for slowing them down so badly.

That's it. I just felt like sharing. Thanks for reading...

Andrew

p.s. (They are not immune to vandalism at Centennial, either. We found their #17 at the bottom of their big hill...*sigh*)
