FYI - First competitive disc golf event of the calendar year at Ettyville - June 16, 2018

I'll update this post with links to Facebook and the tour page. I am very happy this group is bringing an event to the course and the greater disc golf community in the region.

Hope to see you there.

This is one of those mini-QDG tours.

This is the non-PDGA one.

This year the Quebec disc golf series sees the light. We are proud to unveil our new project : a tour of multiple events that will crown the best player from greenhorns to elite players in the sport that most have yet to discover in Quebec. With the experience we have gathered over the last couple years in organizing events we hope to make this tour an annual rendez-vous that will grow and process over the years.

The tour has for objective to give back to the community. We have organised already many events with the same objective we reached our goal on all occasions. Everyone will benefit from the experience : both player and course owners.

The SDGQ aims to promote disc golf in Quebec and attract new players from all regions of the province as well as neighboring provinces. This year we have include a tour event in Ontario.

A player three best score (excluding the final) will be used to establish rankings of the season. These totaled results will be added to the result of the final to crown the 2018 SDGQ champions. Scoring system will be the same as prior series : 100 points divided by the number of players in the category then multiplied by the player finish position. For an example a player finishing 4th in a 20 player category : 100 / 20 = 5 5x16 (4th – 20) = 80 points.

Fees will be the same for all events.
Open 40$ / Master 35$ / GrandMaster 35$ / Avancé 30$ / Amateur 25$ / Femme 25$ / Junior 20$
To form a category at least three players must participate. In that case the player shall be ranked into another category.
A minimal amount of 45% of the registration fees will be given in reward. Categories considered as pro must be rewarded in cash ( open, master, grandmaster ) the other categories must be rewarded in merchandise.

The inscriptions will open a month before the event and you will be able to pay via paypal but you have to cover the 2$ paypal fees. Again this year we will take the inscription till the morning of the event.

The Facebook page says 27 holes. Will we be playing 2 rounds of 27?
https://www.facebook.com/events/1320337034733826/?active_tab=discussion

$500 added cash is a lot of money for a non-PDGA event. Will this follow PDGA payout structure? All PDGA rules or only some?

I am 90% sure I will be attending but awaiting details (tee times, pads, scope) before I Paypal.

Best way to seek these answers is to reach out to the tour operators.

Glad you are thinking of coming.

I do not know if the number of holes has been decided.

As always with Ettyville there are 2 camps...

People that don't know the course and feel initially short changed based on a hole count yet play more shots than your typical pitch and putt courses they play in other events.

People that know the course would rightly question 2x27 in a day of tournament play.

27 holes is par 95 or 96 and is going up with some changes.

The TD's and I are trying to get an onsite visit to finalize some options.
Adding more holes or "super nine" sort of things.

The plan is for a fool day of golf (not a marathon of golf).

I know players total score counts will be higher than most, if not ALL, other one day tournaments if we add to the 27 holes.

On the money scene. Ettyville always pays out big. I added the $500 plus all the green fee's back into the event as I always do. I do know there are reduced entry fee's to this tour and an established payout formula. Hit the TD's up for that info.

Soon I'll post last years Ettyville championship results and payouts. Big money to all for a small field. I should probably be doing the same for provincials. Missing the gravy train players... lol

I should add that FB says

one of Canada's finest 27 holes course

I did not see it say the event was 27 holes. Did I miss something?

I see some details hitting facebook today.

Looks like the TD's have come up with a 18/20 holes layout to play.

O-town.

Event is 9 days away. Woohoo!!!

Reminder it is only a one day event on Saturday. 2 rounds of 18 holes. I expect the t-pads to get announced hopefully today.

There is a Sunday doubles that is going to happen. Probably a fun orientated event to give some people a chance to play best disc from longer t-pads. As well as a chance to play the 27 hole layout vs 18. This will be one round of 27 holes starting mid morning finishing mid afternoon for Sunday fathers day considerations. Once the final details are known I will post them up.

Camping is free and the hot showers will be on. Glowie would be cool too.

Including me there are 6 o-town golfers registered but I know many are confirming plans. Let's try and get those numbers up and show some of that O-town hospitality.

Hope you can make it.

Also the course is going to be in prime shape. I think it will be in better shape than he provincials as well as no rain.

Seeing things look this nice really get's me pumped. Wish I could have the place looking like this all the time.
