From the QB Challenge regulations:

Quote:
f) Players will be divided into pools according to their handicaps.
g) Players without handicaps before the third round will, by default, be grouped into the top pool. The coordinator can, at their discretion, place players without handicaps in other pools if doing so does not put other players in that pool at an anticipated disadvantage, and if doing so provides for the creation of a greater number of pools.

Rick Goguen presently has no handicap. He therefore defaults to the A pool, according to regulation (g) above. This moves C-Kyle to the B-Pool, as, with 15 players, we have three groups of five. C-Kyle's handicap is the fifth lowest of the QB qualifiers.

C-Kyle stays in Group B because, were the coordinator choose to move Goguen to Group B, it creates an anticipated disadvantage to C-Kyle (it becomes more difficult for him to win his pool), as he must move to the A-Pool.

Moving Goguen to the C-Pool disadvantages both Prange and Seguin, as both would have to bump up a pool.

As per regulation (f) above, your handicap puts you in the bottom third of qualifiers as ranked by Handicap.

Please note that these pools are tentative, and based on handicaps that do not incorporate TOSS 2. They may change once Ken has updated the HC list. I post them for interest, more than anything.

Ignoring regs, and using common sense, cyle would likely want to compete to win pool a.

The a challenge is really about raw score bragging rights

And, with the updated handicaps following TOSS 2, the QB pools don't change. C-Kyle almost moved up in place of Andros (3.7, 3.6), but did not.

This has happened many times over the years.

So putting Kyle in pool B makes sense because he is competing for the B pool of money based on his handicap.

What doesn't make sense is the making of cards based on pools. The rules should make cards strictly by score and not be affected by what pool you are in. If you shot the best score over 2 weeks you deserve to be on the top card IMO. Silly silly rule.
