gortex.

I really like Keens, but I have wide Yeti feet.

I liked my Solomens but blew them out as they are built for a thinner foot profile. They would likely work well for oyu

Don't cheap out on shoes.

Once I found the Keens I liked I bought two pairs and keep rotating them

Just bought some today. I like'm, just because the fit my feet perfectly. Sail is paying the tax on everything until tomorrow I think. I've never seen them below 149.99. This is my 3rd pair.

I like the way North Face shoes fit. They don't have the lasting power though. They come apart at the sole. I'll be looking for a new pair over the summer months as I think my pair will be done by September.

Old Man, you've inspired me to look for perfect DG shoe for myself. It's a good time too, as I still have serviceable shoes.

(Or I could just go back to cleats, which I have several pairs of)

There is no perfect shoe. It all depends on foot shape. I loved vasque shoes but they failed within 2 months. Keens work ok for me. I can get a season out of a pair. I have yet to find a pair by anyone that will last more but I am a big guy so the stress is significant. I be look at shoes as part f my seasonal expense to play.

Buy them at mec.

Merrill sucks

I have been using columbia shoes for 3 years now and am on my third pair. Only had to buy the first pair and then every year send them in if something small is wrong with them and get the newest model for free.

Fairly good waterproofing?

Also, what's the return policy?

That's awesome. How are they for wet conditions?

Decent, but on rainy days I still throw the gortex socks on.

I usually buy a new pair at the beginning of the season and slowly break them in as the pair from last year turn into lawn cutting shoes. Same as Shane I am pretty rough on them and go through a pair a season.

I used to wear Vasque before Salomon, but they are hard to find and there's usually not as much selection. Plus the lace system on the Salomons can't be beat.

The new ones I have are great... The tongue is waterproof too so it holds up in puddles

And the answer is...

Vasque Juxt.

I went to Sail and MEC. Tried on almost every shoe. Bought a short list, pairs of Vasque, Keen & Salomon. Wore them inside for about a day each. For fit, Vasque was it for my foot.

Because I have boney ankles, I prefer a low cut shoe. Because of that, waterproofing is not really possible, it just leaks over the top. Because of that I decided not to go Gortex shoes due to hotter and slower to dry out. So I got new Gortex socks too.

I figure I'd post my recent shoe selection and update accordingly as the season goes on.

I went the Keen route along with Carguy but got them at MEC instead of online.

I've been steadily shopping/looking at different manufacturers.

I like this Keen: Keen Durand Mid. Made in the US.

I've also been looking into Gri-Sport. An Italian company. Very light shoe. Aggressive Vibram soles. They're having a wholesale sale in Laval, May 4-9. Found out about them at Costco (Costco only carries a few of the models).

Anyone ever try Under Armour hiking shoes? https://www.underarmour.com/en-ca/mens/footwear/trail-and-hiking

I wore a UA basketball shoe all year as my indoor shoes and they were wonderfully comfortable. My favourite cleats were also an UA shoe.

The search widens...
