This might be an intentional maneuver with all your good play this weekend at the Oonie.... |
When you invent transporters, let me know. I work 'til 5, like many of us, but I can't drive through what is often 1 full hour of traffic in 15 minutes. _________________ The box said 'Requires Windows XP or better'. So I installed LINUX... |

Guess that means I won't be entering it..... | You could enter and take par + 4 on missed holes... If you arrive at 6, you'll probably miss 3 or 4. _________________ Go Sens! |

CahMan Don, this is not a new thing. You know we have to start at a certain time or face the whole round being scrapped due to failing daylight.
It gets easier as the season progresses and start times get later _________________ meh |

Here are the sunset times in Ottawa:
http://www.sunrise-and-sunset.com/en/canada/ottawa/2014
According to it, sunset is at 20:07 at this time of the year. The difference between a 5:15 close / 5:30 start does not equate to the length of time it takes to play a round in the sun at the Shire, which isn't the longest course around. Assuming a start at 5:30, that gives you over 2.5 hours for a round. A 5:15 cutoff is way too soon.[/url] _________________ The box said 'Requires Windows XP or better'. So I installed LINUX... |

Preregistration is now CLOSED.
If your name is not on the list located at post #3 on the first page of this thread, and you want to participate in tonight's TOSS event, YOU MUST BE AT THE SHIRE BEFORE 5:15PM. Only eight spots remain, and only the first seven paid entries not on the preregistration list will gain entry. Special consideration for the eighth spot is reserved for Twirly, who is kind enough to offer up his property for us to compete on tonight. If Twirly chooses not to play, that eighth spot will open for late registration. _________________ Go Sens! |

Except you already said you work until 5:00 pm and then it takes an hour to get there = 6:15pm earliest. Ready to play by 6:25 leaving less than 2 hours to play 18 holes.
These TOSS events tend to be very slow, in my experience, at the Shire due to the areas around 1 and 4-7 which get backed up badly
Instead of requesting times be moved around to suit your schedule, maybe you should move your schedule around to meet the times. _________________ meh |

I can shave some time off a departure, but not that amount.
It's hardly all about me. The time of start should be based on the sun, but if the sun revolves around you, keep on blustering.
I'll vote with my feet... and they're going elsewhere. _________________ The box said 'Requires Windows XP or better'. So I installed LINUX... |

Still healing a leg injury so it will be a few more week before I'm likely to be able to participate.
Have a great start of season ya'll! |

What you call bluster, I call standing up so the TD doesn't have to deal with this.
As well, it looks like a heavy weather system is moving in which will cut daylight as well _________________ meh

In the two years that I've been managing TOSS, the first event at the Shire has started at 6:15. Both times, cards have come in 15-20 minutes after dark, and I'd even suggest that they've been 30ish minutes beyond a comfortable level of light.
Trust me, sunset times and round duration played a significant role in my consideration of start times for the 2014 TOSS season. I've been observing closely the schedules (and adherence to them) for two years now, and have incorporated those observations into our scheduled times. _________________ Go Sens! |
