PostPosted: Thu Mar 27, 2014 8:55 am    Post subject: OMPL VIII Registration Reply with quote

Since today appears to be the last day with normal day time temperatures for the most part below 0C, I am pleased to announce the sign-ups for this years Ottawa Match Play Lague

--There are a few changes to the normal playing schedule. First-there are no playoffs this year: players will play one match against every player in their division. Players will play one match in each of these months: April, May, June, July, Aug, Sept, and one match to be completed at any time. Standings are calculated as normal, and winners are decided at the end of the season.

--For this year-because of the snow April there will also be a change to the new changes in the schedule smile
April is going to be considered a play anytime match. For record keeping purposes its called “April”, but its considered to be played anytime before the end of the season.

--Because of the late start to this year, the OMPL season will end no later then the Wednesday before LNF at 11:59pm. Wed so you can play at the shire -unless it snows mid October of-course smile
To register reply here or PM me.

--Players returning are either in their same division, or in their new division from relegation/promotion last year-to start with--however:
Open spots in divisions from players not returning will be left open for all to compete for. For example, if a player in div1 is not returning, any new player, div2 or 3 player can compete for that spot. Details to come as I’ll see how #’s play out, how long the snow takes to melt, and how long it takes to get the ground to dry up a bit.
I’ll set something prettier up maybe tonight after soccer reffing hopefully

Rolly was kind enough to alter the format for OMPL this year so we can experience a true finish in the PC race where the trophy can be handed out after LNF. Chalk it up to an experiment, we'll see how it works and go from there.

Think of it as a year long playoff, every match will matter in the standings.

it looks like there is still plenty of time for registration. still a fair amount of snow, which will lead to a fair amount of water so there is not much rush to get things started yet. Registration will be open til at least April 21, then a countdown to end registration will begin as hopefully summer starts.
Trophy's are in the shop getting the plates (Div1) - Div2's is built and div3's is next to be built (waiting for the wood to dry out a bit),

I would again like to register for this but, I apologize now for not making some of my matches. There is no way I can make Wednesday night at the Shire unless we tee off at 7pm. I cannot see anyway that I can make Ettyville or Mountain and Tuesday nights are not looking good for me until July. I remember one year (2011?) I felt the same thing going in and I did not register. I regretted it for the whole year.

Some of the most fun rounds I played last year was a part of this and I don't want to miss the action. Plus, I got schooled last year and my ego has still not recovered.

Are you in? Last i heard the criteria you have set out to re-join has not yet happened.
Trophy guy is busy but your plate is on the to do list. He's got a pile of trophies to do for the gov-because for some reason the gov feels the need to hand out a never ending supply of trophies to their employees for doing their jobs.

Nice, glad your back. Try to play a few more games this year Razz . Though no one ever complained about a default win smile however .

K-Fish, you have an ego? (Joking) you seem to laid back to have one, so does this mean your in or not? Remember, you can always play ahead in the sched and you can make up missed games too
