GARDENWAY DISC GOLF COURSE by Fisholm, on Flickr

Look for red bricks set in the ground for tee markers. Print the map and play disc golf.

There are nine baskets in the ground. Sport Experts on Innes has agreed to carry discs and a course map will be posted at the course later this week. There has been lots of interest by people walking the park and watching me play. When out there talk to as many people as you can and let them try to throw one of your discs (even if only once).

There is lots for kids to do out there so bring your whole family. Evenings can be quite busy in this park but weekends it is almost empty.

If the soccer fields are being used, please shorten holes so that there is not risk on interference.

Also, as this initiative takes shape there will be lots of curious people googling disc golf in Orleans and finding this thread. I hope to sticky this thread and lock it down for announcments only. Discussions can be had in the Members section.

I would suggest to give content to Deuce to update the Courses page, as most won't search forums for information; They'll click the Courses link. I know I avoid Forums like the plague outside of this one.

I can get a Current News article up too. Pictures would be great. Pictures with kids in them would be even better.

We can run a demo day out there too. A great opportunity for an event tent.

Daredevil has connections with the Sports Experts in Rideau Center. Connecting them with Rob at the Innes Sports Experts/Atmosphere would work wonders with all parties.

Sports Experts should buy a Costco basket for demonstration purposes in-store.

Yay, an East-end course. I'm excited to be able to drive to a disc golf course within 15 minutes!

I just played a nice round at Gardenway this evening.

Kyle, what are the official out-of-bound areas on this course? I can make some assumptions but would rather hear the designer's perspective on this.

I think rule of thumb is roads, backyards and sports fields. Basically, anywhere you shouldn't be big grin

Over or on any pathway is OB. And yes anywhere you should not be is OB. I put up a sign that explains this with a map and where to buy discs. I have not been out there in quite a while as everytime I drive out there the park is too busy to play. I wonder if this sign is still posted?

I was there last week, Alex had a soccer practice nearby. It was a Wednesday evening, the park had very little activity, had no problem going around the whole course. Carrying a print-out of the layout, I also had no trouble finding all the tee bricks, except No. 4, so I just improvised there.

All in all, a great way to spend 40 minutes of my time.
