Come play the greatest game you can play in a park. Hog’s Back Park will be transformed into the disc golf destination, featuring a competitive disc golf course, an family friendly introductory course, on site course pros, and disc manufacturers.

The Ottawa Disc Golf Club, in partnership with the Ottawa-Carleton Ultimate Association, Daredevil Discs, the Ontario Disc Sports Association and the Ultimate Disc Golf Store, are celebrating 15 years of disc golf in Ottawa. Celebrate with us.

The event will be open from 8-8 on Saturday June 8th, and 8-5 on Sunday June 9th. The event is free to play. There will be disc golf discs available at the park, free of charge, though you can use any style of disc or Frisbee to play.

The 6 hole course will be great for families and kids. I plan to get my kids out over the weekend. They're bragging to the other kids on the street that "Daddy made us a disc golf course". It'll be fun and Ben is working on a crayon friendly 6 hole score card. I'll have 120g kid discs at the course.

The final walk happened last night. The grass is long, but it's light and playable, but it's made us re-think 12 holes and we've gone to 9 holes. There will be a 6 hole family/kid friendly course that won't touch the long stuff.

Here's a quick run down on the holes:

(Red-lines are fairway/OB lines, yellow lines are the recommended and measured Yellow-Ts, blue lines are the recommended and measured Blue-Ts )

1 - 597' Par 5 - 507' Par 4 - We'll be USDGCing these first 3 holes with spray paint and flags. This will help in focusing our drives and help in finding our discs quickly. Hole 1 is 192' to the inside of the left turn in the fairway. Then it's 390, downhill to the green. It's 564 from tee to the green straight. Lot's of risk reward.

2 - 363' Par 4 -219' Par 3 I know it looks short, but it's uphill. We've USDGCed this one to follow the hillside and curve up to the plateau green. Again, risk reward.

3 - 435' Par 4 -255' Par 3 Three holes in and we've got you playing an island hole (or if you played Blues first round, this is really the 12th hole and it's a perfect spot for a island hole). The Blue-T is on the island and will act as the drop zone for missing the island from Yellows.

4 - 309' Par 3 - 231' Par 3 Probably the nicest fairway on the course. Awesome green. Both Ts offer something different for the thrower.

5 - 180' Par 3 - 180' Par 3 Yellow/Blue T. This is a downhill floater throw. We'll probably draw an island for the Yellow Ts to add to the excitment, but since it's just a day of disc golf, you can ignore the paint and just throw and have fun. This hole will be a fun one. So fun, we'll make you play it twice.

6 -225' Par 3 - 195' Par 3 Back up the hill. We'll avoid the long grass by throwing over it. Nice green.

Hole 7 - 243' Par 3 234' Par 3 Up the hill and around the tree. And we're on the short grass...finally. Nice hole and the subtle change from Yellows to Blues is cool.

Hole 8 - 297' Par 3 306' Par 3 Yup. The Yellow T is the shorter one. It's a tougher line to hit, so it's the tougher T. Nice downhill throw with the forest on one side and openess on the other.

Hole 9 - 198' Par 3 153' Par 3 It's a shortie, but it's safe, which is the number one issue the NCC has (and there was interesting conversations about Hog's Back and DG that happened at one of my on site meetings), so it's my number one isse too.

I also plan to send families who play the the 6 holer to try 7-9 because of the shorter grass and the prettiness of these 3 holes, so Hole 9 will be fun for them.

Jeff Lariviere and I are planning to meet up, Sunday at 11 am.

We're looking to drum up two more players for a skins game.

Reply here to let us know you're in.

Jeff can't make it earlier. Stakes ought to be modest, it's mainly for fun. I'm thinking 25c a hole, which puts a whopping $4.50 on the line.

I can make it earlier now. Not going to LANARK! after all.

I would also be willing to up the stakes to $1/hole.

Are you free earlier Darko? How early Shane?

Morning is going to be impossible I think. Tasha has a lesson from 10-12 on sunday. I can make afternoon, but the morning won't work.

Too bad, I like buck a hole skins.

Let's go with 10:30 as you had originally proposed, seeing that Shane is not avail.
