Consider yourselves lucky. It was typhoon-like here on Sat. Glad you guys didn't have to deal with that!

A 55 last year got me a 980 something rated round from the shorts. Should be a good Sunday.

The FAM winner was an American (and Avery's girlfriend), I think Jess placed second.

I can't speak to Cyle's thumberliness, but he did not appear to be shooting the rounds of his life.

Andros definitely had a better second day. He looked better coming in for day two lunch, that's for sure. (Lack of rain was probably no small factor in this).

I suspect that scores haven't been updated yet because the tournament ran late. The tees for the second round were changed to shorts for all but the pro men, the ladies cards were slow coming in on most rounds, and I know that the pro ladies card had a slight (if unnecessary) controversy that slowed play even more.

Andros and I didn't stay for the awards ceremony, because that is apparently something we aren't going to do this year, but we learned that some speeches ran long and people were lucky to have made the 8pm boat.

Oh, and I personally learned that those grip bags do not sit particularly well on me. Too low on the shoulders, the plastic rail thing on the bottom digs into the back, and the chest strap is not well placed for boobs.

What was the pro ladies card controversy?

On #9 (?) Reba threw out of bounds over the path. I'm not sure why, but Des made a call that she wasn't sure that the throw was actually out of bounds, so they had Reba shoot out from there and then a set of provisionals.

Which is the right thing to do whenever the card is unsure of the ob ruling.

But on or over paths is a fairly obvious out of bounds on da Island.

Were any of the Pro's throwing rollers? How was the party Saturday night? Was there a winning model established for the Island or was it simply throw low, far and make yur putts? Was there any talk about Belleville and did anyone else from Ottawa take a Gold Pass home?

I can wait until Falling Colours but I was thinking of you guys out there all weekend long. Really missed missing this one.

There was a big showing of St. Thomas Pros and they are prone to throwing the odd roller.
I'm not sure its a shot that I want to spend a lot of time practicing as I saw mixed results with rollers.

We stayed for dinner but retired to Kin's place to drink beer and watch the fireworks from the shore, it was quite a sight to see.

I honestly don't know how I to answer that but I'll give you my story.
Going into this tournament I told myself that I was going to practice hyzer flips because with the tight lanes and mature trees that guard most fairways you simply do not have the space for flex anhyzers.
I didn't get to practice them but by the 3rd round I was hyzer flipping my sidewinder 400ft.

Yes, yes I did. I'll wait until the full results are posted but I made
a lot of ground with a 56 on the shorts Sunday morning.

It wasn't enough I guess as I faltered a bit on my 4th round.

2 strokes between 11th and 16th place.

I'll go back a couple of pages and answer one of Geoff's points/questions...

It looks to me like Rd 1 and Rd 2 for the AM2 are rated higher than they should be because we played off shorts, and I think they're rated as if it were the longs.

This may also be the case for Round 2 for the AM 1, as they played short vs. the pro longs.

Rd. 3 should be accurate, because everybody played short tees.

My story:

Miserable, miserable, horrible first round of 76. Twenty-two up. I had no rain gear, was playing in shorts and a t-shirt, and was cold, wet, and miserable. Next time I fly, I'll make sure the rain gear gets packed in the suitcase, even if I have to leave clean socks behind...

Finished the first round in 22nd of 25, second round played nine strokes better for a 67, and moved up one spot to 21st.

Sunday, I was aiming for a 62-64, but a few drives too low had me taking extra strokes, so shot another 67. Surprisingly, this was the eighth best score on the round, and good enough to move me to T13 for the tournament. An eight position jump in the standings. If we'd had a fourth round, I think I could have moved up a few spots more.

Not the best weekend, but I think I made a monumental change in my driving style between round 1 and 2, and one that should carry over into my future play, so I'm happy about that.

Could I have played better than my score indicates? Definitely. AM2 for a while longer, I guess!

Guys, (and I know you're not really complaining, yet I feel a little bad)

The rain, having a 90 player field, and some unexpected problems
off the course that slowed me down considerably meant that I wasn't
quite as efficient with the scoring this year.

The scores were up after about 24 hours of closing and yet the ratings
are skewed until I have a few moments to correct the tees used.

MPO,MPM played Long, Long,Short, Long

FPO, played Long, Short, Short, Long

MA1 played Long, Short, Short

FW1 and MA2 played Short, Short, Short.

The idea of having the AMs play three rounds and being able to follow
the Pro cards final rounds was generally well received.

I hope to have the correct tees used and ratings
by the time you wake up tomorrow.

Dave.

Awesome! Your shiraz! That's hilarious.

Dave, you exceed expectations even when you feel like you haven't met them. There are events that I've played in that I never see the scores of the tournament. Within 24 hours is brilliant. Your ability last year to let my brother now how well my first round was, while he was crossing the harbour, and letting me know 2 holes into my round is mind boggling.

Keep it up Slater. You give the PDGA a good name.

Thanks again for your kind words.

I'm just trying to do what I think is right.
Considering that players commit financially
in advance, and travel sometimes great distances,
I feel that the players, the interested public,
and the sport deserve no less.

My netbook is out of commission for the immediate
future, its vital signs are faint so I will have to start
over with the PC as I neglected to copy the
spreadsheet to a portable drive. What a maroon!

Shame about the wine too big grin
