You can't call him out if you were there. You have no idea what the conditions were like.

The bruises are likely because you looked fairly new to snow shoes and its hard to get the proper gait to prevent the forward slide into the crust layer

Wait, there's a right way to use these things? (And yeah, I haven't had a snowshoe on since the beavertail plastic ones in grade five...)

It was very awkward shoeing at best. half the shoe up on the crust and the other half sinking in the soft snow underneath made for some evry entertaining tumbles. Getting back up was hilarious to watch.

Yup. Going across the "tarmac" is always funny to watch, as are attempts to summit the snow mountains.
