Next year div 1 will have a new schedule, no more divisions based geographically. The new one will spread out the difficulty much more evenly in the reg season.
Ill give the breakdown later...
Can someone please re arrange the #'s in each pot (1-4)to a random order?
Pot 1

pot 2

pot 3

The procedure for building the schedule is this:
Step 1.
All players in Div 1 are ranked 1-16 based on 3 categories. There ODGC Handicap, ODGC player rating, and by PC points of the previous year. Next years schedule will use this years PC points. Players who played less then 5 events, their PC points are adjusted to as if they have played 5 events. So if a person has played 1 event at 200pts, ther projected PC points are 1000.
The Players 3 rank values(1st-16th x 3) are added together and sorted from lowest to highest in a list.
For example, Penton is 1st in all 3 categories, so his total value of the rank of the 3 categories is 3 pts.
The league is the divided into 4 pots.
Pot 1: are the players who are ranked 1-4
In the example it was:
Penton Vinet Twirly Visser
Pot 2 are the players who are ranked 5-8
Rolly, Ckyle,Shane Vallee
Pot 3 are the players who are ranked 9-12
Claus OMR Doucette Don Lane
Pot 4 are players who are ranked 13-16
Gobbler, Fisher, Stacie, Atos
(Yes Atos was 16th)
There are 4 divisions like last year, and the players in each pot get randomly drawn into separate divisions.
Each division will have a player from Pot 1, Pot 2 Pot 3 and Pot 4.
The schedule is built so:
If your in Pot 1, your schedule consists of:
1 game against a player from Pot 2, 3, 4 who are in your division.
1 game against a player from Pot 1 in another Div
1 game against a player from Pot 2 in another div
1 game against a player from Pot 3 in another div
If your in Pot 2 your schedule consists of:
1 game against a player from Pot 1, 3, 4 who are in your division.
1 game against a player from Pot 2 in another Div
1 game against a player from Pot 1 in another div
1 game against a player from Pot 4 in another div
If your in Pot 3 your schedule consists of:
1 game against a player from Pot 1, 2, 4 who are in your division.
1 game against a player from Pot 3 in another Div
1 game against a player from Pot 1 in another div
1 game against a player from Pot 4 in another div
If your in Pot 4 your schedule consists of:
1 game against a player from Pot 1, 2, 3 who are in your division.
1 game against a player from Pot 4 in another Div
1 game against a player from Pot 3 in another div
1 game against a player from Pot 2 in another div
In every ones schedule, if you were to add the # from the Pot that their opponents have come from it adds up to 15 for everyone. (Pot 4 plays, Pot’s 1,2,3,4,3,2=15)
This change makes every ones schedule more even as far as difficulty and eliminates the effect of having good players in week divisions and week players in strong divisions. |

this seems pretty convoluted. However you want to set up your pools is fine by me. i would put 16 names in a hat and pull them out in sets of 4
What i want to know is will there be adjustments to the games played and when issue that seems to come up over and over again.
If it were me I would say Here are your 6 matches. You have until Sept 01 to have them played. You can play them in any order. If you don't get all 6 in you are out of the playoffs. In certain circumstances the Commissioner may rule on if a missed match is legitimate (someone hurt, dead, etc) _________________ meh |

Then people would be at the mercy of the draw. You could have the 16th best player having to play 1,2,3,4,5,6 best players, or have the best player play the 16,15,14,13,12,11, best players. Does not work fairly.

There will be no changes to the rules of the schedule. Your proposal puts more restraints on players then what already is there now. You already can play the games in any order, if your getting all 6 done anyway. The rule does come up “over and over again” but its really only 12% of the league who has issues with the rule. Also, if playing games on time is a problem, is it really a good idea to eliminate the schedule? Eliminating the schedule will only make thins worse, as players kind of need to be told to play there matches. If no one tells them to do so, they wont ever play. |
