Has a TOSS ever been postponed/cancelled before? What is the normally accepted decision? To cancel, or to postpone and finish the round at a later date?

Yes.

On two occassions we've played abbreviated rounds (12 holes, I believe). It has never been a wash-out.

One was at flat mountain (we hung out in the shed for over an hour waiting for a thunder storm to pass). The other was our first ever trip to Camp Fortune (where nightfall cut the round short).

We do not play in lightning.

We play in rain, but not where there is a risk of a lightning strike.

Handicaps get fractioned to the number of holes played (12 holes; 12/18 = 2/3 handicap used to calculate your adjusted score) if this is necessary. If this has to be done, everyone must play the same holes.

Think 6-10 and 14-18, or something along those lines.

Wow. What a night. 30 minutes of torrential downpour with thunder and lightning, and then the rain just stopped, and it turned into a beautiful evening for disc golf.

Thanks to everyone who braved the weather this evening, and thanks to those that stuck around for the whole round.

I think it's a good step forward to making the hole "fairer". Plus, it's pretty. I like the little hole that a discs can make it through too.

I agree. The backstop addresses all of my complaints about that hole. Well done!

On the subject of what should have happened last night, I think we should recognize that no one should have started. i know we are all keen to play, but that was a serious lightning storm with some very very close strikes.

I am not trying to blame Mark or anyone else, but getting hit by lightning is pretty damn serious and not worth a round.

The general rule is 30/30

You should seek shelter if the time between the viewing of a bolt and the boom is less than 30 seconds ( roughly 6 miles)

You should then stay under cover for 30 minutes after the final rumble is heard.

Again, i am not assigning or implying any blame here. Each of us makes their own choices. But none of us should have been climbing a mountain during that storm last night. Once it started, many of us had to seek shelter in the woods on the flanks, which is far less than ideal

I know there was one or 2 strikes that were less than 500 feet away from me last night.

We stopped when we saw the first one (4 holes in) and we didn't come out until we didn't see/hear anymore.

The worst is most people were huddled together holding metal handled umbrellas.....dumb dumb dumb

Lightning is serious. I can strike up to 10 miles away from where it is raining and come down under the blue skies at the edge of the storm

Again, I am not judging what happened last night. i am bringing it up more for what happens next time

I feel lucky that no one got hurt last night

I just wanted to take a moment and offer my thanks to Mark for running an entire Quarterback Challenge series as the TD of three consecutive events.

That was very large of you, Mark.

Thanks for volunteering to TD these TOSS events!
