What a week!
15 degrees and sunny all week.
I don't know what the conclusion is about longer disc flights in the summer than the winter (it is footing issues, bulky clothing, or air density) but I was throwing a lot farther last week.

The Ontario board had a place for interesting DG stories so I posted this there.
Needless to say I felt pretty good on Sat!

This story just happened on Saturday (in Tennessee).

The Context:
I played 42 holes on Wed, Thurs, and Fri. My arm was really sore so I didn't want to play on Sat but it was 17 degrees and sunny...so off I went.
The new course in Knoxville is great (over 8000 feet of open and wooded fairways). Most of the holes are 350ft+ par 3s and there are three par 4s (450ft, 475ft, 525ft).
I decided that I would play my favourite holes and the holes that I hate the most.

The Story:
#3 is a par 3 (417 feet). The basket sits up on a hill, but the path is guarded by some large trees at about the 350 mark. I threw my drive into those trees but my approach hit chains and stayed it.
#7 is a par 3 (353 ft). It is a straight line from tee to basket except that at the 150ft point there are trees. There is a huge cedar to the right and some other tree to the left that only leave a window of about 10 feet. I split the trees with my drive, and my long approch went in.
#12 is a par 4 (525 ft). The tee is elevated but there are all sorts of trees in the way. If I hit just right I can get my Beast to S in and around those trees. My drive was perfect and my super-long approach hit chains and stayed in.

The Conclusion
These feats in and of themselves were pretty cool. Three long approaches that hit chains and stay in during a round are pretty rare. What was extra cool about Saturday was that in all three instances I was with the same group of guys...but only on those holes.
I played #1 and #2 by myself. I met these guys at #3. I walked with them but didn't throw again until #7, and then again until #12. While they played #13 and #14 I walked off to complete #15-#18. After that I went home.
They saw me throw on three holes...the best three holes I have ever played.
They must wonder if every Canadian disc golfer is that good!

2 more things...

(1)
When Jamie saw how many ODGC posts I have made her comment was, "you ARE such a loser".

After listening to me explain to some guy why his discs kept turning over into the headwind her comment was, "you're such a loser".

Seems that I am a loser!

(2)
I watched the above mentioned dude throw a Dragon, ArchAngel, and TeeBird into the wind on a hole much like the A-Hole at JCP. After watching him freak out about his discs turning over and landing in the water (except for the dragon...it actually floats)I finally had to explain a few things to him.

Proof that my time reading abot discs has been well spent or more ammo for Jamie in the "you're such a loser category"?

does she want some real ammo?

show her the threads where you're the only one talking. (like this one, I wouldn't have said anything on this topic, so you can explain to her that this would be one of your solo threads)

Granted there are some threads where I am the only one (see Out of Bounds)...but I also started the thread with the most replies (200). So I can't be all that bad!

Thanks to Ben for uploading the photos.

A bit more context:
-I shanked my drive on #1...almost ended up in the water.
-I shanked my approach on #2 and took a 5 on a par 4.
-My drive on #17 turned over big time and went way right into the bushes.

Final conclusion:
Pretty average round except for 3 lucky shots.

Look out McCormick...after my win on Friday I hope to take your Ace Race title come Sept!
